I think you should center the spinner on the viewport instead of centering on the content div. There are some screens where you can scroll all the way to the bottom to make a change that invokes the spinner, but the spinner is not visible in the current viewport.
I ran into some issues with changing the ability score values in the standard array mode. If I change two different ability score values back to "--" I could only change them back to the original value. When I leave and go back, it seems to be fixed. Probably a timing issue with javascript updating the values in the pick list?
I also want to echo the idea that picking proficiencies can be a bit confusing between backgrounds and class. The current pick list isn't modified as you select options, so you can end up picking the same proficiency twice (eg. pick history in bard class, and you get history again in noble background).
It would be nice if the pick lists were updated in realtime so as you select musical instrument for the bard, once you pick "Lute" for instrument #1 you can't pick it again for instrument #2 and #3.
Also, I don't see a way to show the Monk's unarmed strikes in the equipped weapon slot. I made a homebrew version of it as a custom weapon, but I'm assuming this is a bug/gap?
I've been fiddling with the Homebrew tools and like them a lot so far! That being said, I'm a little surprised to see no homebrew Race and Class categories, as those are easily the most homebrewed things in D&D, save perhaps for Magic Items. Granted, custom Races and Classes would have to plug back in to the character builder, so I understand that's a lot of work if you all haven't already planned for it. Just curious if that's going to be something we'll see down the line, as I know the Unearthed Arcana subreddit alone is full to the brim of people who would purchase DDB for that alone.
Also wanted to say thanks and great job, team! I'm sure it gets frustrating seeing so much criticism all at once, but I think everyone is just excited to see what this ends up as because we're all passionate about our favorite game.
Hi, i am making my first character in this page, from my ongoing D&D campaign. I play a Mountain Dwarf Wizard level 3 - Transmutation school...
When i try to select the arcane school at level 2. it only gives me the option to select Evocation school. is this like a rule that i did not see? or is there a problem with the Character Builder. the drop down menu just shows evocation school. Please Help.

For the beta test, only material from the SRD and Basic Rules is available. The other official material will be added at the final release. The price for that is still to be announced.
The Equipment Section- aside from current coding bugs and all that: I feel it's a bit unintuative. It's wicked awesome that I have the option of all this MAGICAL equipment but basic weapons should be on top for the sake of newer players. Perhaps standard equipment should be made available on the page itself and the "mini-window" can be reserved for the magical and homebrew.
Also, Tools/Kits/Game Sets should be its own list. Adveturer Gear and Instruments and ~All Those Wonderfully Strange Trinkets~ should each be their own list.
If Trinkets could have a random item thing, in simulation of rollig D%, that would be cool too.
I guess it was just super weird for me to go into equipment and have an Abbacus on top of a list of Abjurer's stuff. I'm not saying an Abbacus can't be equipable. We are all more than capable of making some deranged Abbacus armour and weapons but...
"Equipped" vs "Carried" is a confusing distinction if there's no limitation on what can be equipped. Why not just equip 12 2h weapons?
There should be some way to edit items that are carried/equipped. The explorer's pack contains a finite number of things like tindertwigs, and I should be able to update that as they're used.
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but after creating a character I went to try and view it and it's not working - just shows the loading icon indefinitely. Has anyone else encountered this issue?
When looking at Wand of Magic Detection in the Gear section of a character sheet, it lists "Detect Magic 1 Charge+" four times under the charges section. When you click the plus to get more details they all list the same content.

Spellcasters have a known lag problem. Already reported to the devs.
Looks like my character is back - glad it was a display issue. If I see it again, I'll post in the bugs forum (just saw that one).
In general, was very exited to be able to access the character creator, loved seeing a fully functional mobile version on my phone (yay! no more leafing through papers when looking up abilities, STs, class features, etc.). For beta, very happy with the functionality so far, and looking forward to additional content when it becomes available. Some other thoughts:
Agree that the order of some things during creation seemed odd. Picking proficiencies for class skills before rolling stats or picking background options was weird, for example. Had to back a up a few times, and still didn't realize I'd received Stealth skill proficiency twice by mistake until later.
I posted on this earlier, but the unarmed attack option for monks should be something I can see in my Attacks section.
Others have noted the issues with Monk hit dice being d6 instead of d8.
Equipment management was especially cumbersome:
The window was very small, and full titles of items were hard to see as a result.
The color coding was good, but hard to remember - a key at the top or bottom would be useful.
More filters in selection would be good would be very useful. It is not always clear what types of metadata are available or that search picks up either (seems to only reference title). I would love to see (or click to access) the full search options in this screen that you get on the Items pages: https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items
Adding a filter for weapon types (light, finesse, etc.) would be very helpful - or pre-filtering based on chosen proficiencies/class/size limitations might be a good option (allowing for a deselection of this filter for RP and other uses)
Have just had a play with the character builder. Have not used character sheet in anger yet. Mostly ok, but some areas that could really do with polishing.
1. When picking spells from the lis, there needs to be a brief description of the spell or when the cursor hoovers over the spell, the description should pop up. This happens elsewhere in Dnd Beyond, so seems strange it's not here.
2. Picking and equipment needs completely changing. It should automatically give you the choice of starting equipment, rather than have to remember the options and search the equipment list. I found this section very clunky. Again as with point 1, the equipment should have a brief description etc.
3.Layout of character sheet was not optimal. Bit to much wasted space, need tightening up. I was having to scroll up and down a lot. Maybe having the vital statistics as a static banner, so you can always see them.
4. When creating a character, instead of tabs have the page expand downwards with each step. This way it's easy to scroll up and see what you've already picked and make retrospective changes. For example with tabs when you pick class skills, you have to remember what you chose when you pick your background skills.
Well these are my first thoughts, i'm sure there will be more once i've had more of a play

I decided to test the limit of the Randomizer, so I had it make me a 20th level Aarocokra (to see how it handles players with two different speeds) named Kwaqs Featherbird. I seemed to generate him just fine, but whenever I try to load up the character sheet, it freezes.
That would explain things, I just "edited" Kwaqs, going through the step by step process of how he was made, and it turns out he has at least one level of wizard.
Just tried to make a Variant Human. The description says that it gets +1 to all abilities although the implementation seems correct. Also when I go to select a Feat my only choices are the Deep Gnome racial feat and Grappler

I just tried to look at my characters, and it seems to have just randomly deleted all of them. I had just come from the character creator, and I don't know if its something I did by accident, but if someone hasn't already brought this up, the devs might want to look into this.

1. If i search "iron pot" for the item, it will not find the iron pot. I must search "Pot" for "pot, iron"
2. When adding wizard spells I cannot sort by spell level or school of magic and that's terrible fix it.

So far I've noticed one missing item: Outlander appears to be missing from the list of backgrounds

Also on the character sheet there is a tiny green dot against proficient skills. Why not just have the skill in bold, or a different colour (or both).
