So, the DMG has the formula for making a combat encounter somewhat balanced, so I figured Id suggest here. Basically would allow DMs to add the party composition and levels, calculating the xp difficulty for easy/medium/hard/deadly and then allow a drag-and-drop or just add monster and add their xp yield, using the appropriate modifiers to give a estimate of the difficulty of each encounter. And if that's too easy for yall, maybe add a random fight generator based on the XP difficulties
This would be really nice. I want to run a campaign with two people, but I'm intimidated with sizing down the encounters to make it something they can survive. A tool like this would actually be really useful.
That would be nice. The one thing I really liked about 4th edition was the suite of digital tools for building monsters and encounters. There are some unofficial tools for 5th edition, but most are just Excel spreadsheets that halfway work. An official tool that linked to all published WOTC material would be neat. Imagine scavenging things like actions from the stat blocks of other monsters while building your own.
I want to clarify here before we get too much into speculation - a full-featured encounter builder is absolutely on the roadmap, but it is not included in what we have for launch. Major, major priority on this though!
I would definitely like to see this, something similar to http://kobold.club/fight/#/encounter-builder but with the ability to see stat blocks and import it into an encounter manager like the 5th Ed DM tools app.
Also I think having something to help new DMs modify some of the monsters stats by increasing the challenge rating. Like a calculator or something to make a suggestion on what would be a good stat boost on monsters

Woot woot!
Is someone gathering answers we get somewhere? Could there be a stickied thread with questions and staff responses, so maybe they don't have to answer things too many times?
I would assume that when the "homebrew" functionality is introduced it will go into a standard format stat array, like what is already on the site. That would allow your custom and reskinned monsters to be used in the encounter builder.
Any update on when the Encounter Builder will be available? It's definitely the biggest hole in the product. Hell, I'd pay extra to have it available or even do a subscription if it was included.

^ ditto. Though I already have a subscription. :P
As far as a model, something like Kobold Fight Club for building mixed with Improved Initiative for tracking during combat would be awesome.

Something like this will likely be included in Phase Three - campaign management. Phase One appears to be just regarding these tools first.
