I don't recall, but the usual MO is as a revamp approaches, the team creates a feedback thread to collect in one place the needs of the users so they can come up with their implementation strategy.
I'm trying to create a magic dagger with 1d6 base damage plus three rounds of 1d4 bleed damage. Can't wait!
You could temporarily make it a +2 magic dagger with the bleed property. I know that isn't quite the same, which is 1d6 meaning you can get 1,2,3,4,5, and 6 as results, but with 1d4+2 the only results are 3,4,5, and 6. And you get the +2 on attack rolls too, but just thought I'd throw that out to you.
I was able to change the damage type of a homebrew weapon. I made a Wooden Practice Sword, based off of a standard Longsword, but changed the damage to Bludgeoning. Under the modifier section, I added the "Replace Damage Type" with Bludgeoning and it worked like a charm. I have yet to solve changing damage and dice problem so its shows up on your sheet without clicking on it though.
Would also like this option, I want to give a player a Battleaxe with one size bigger die, ie 1d10 / versatile (1d12). I tried adding those several different ways but nothing worked. I also tried to add Damage - Slashing to give a similar effect, but it doesn't change the displayed damage. It would be nice if the base damage die was a drop down in Basic Information, and versatile was added as a modifier, rather than baked in, so that it could also be changed easily.
:EDIT:
After messing with it for an hour I figured out a word around for my case. I made the base weapon a glaive, added Ignore Weapon Property - Heavy, Two-Handed, Reach, and added Weapon Property - Versatile (1d12). It's a kludge, but I suppose it works.

Yep, I've found that option myself in the time since posting this. unfortunately, that doesn't solve the first problem which is replacing the Damage Die. Specifically when you want to say, make a versatile weapon d10/d8 instead of d8/d6

YEP! that totally works, but only if your weapon is a similar proficiency and you don't mind it being magic.
In my situation, I want non magical spears to do more d8/d10 versatile damage in my homebrew.
It's on the roadmap as part of the homebrew overhaul.
They can't just add a feature without a UI.
UI's are hard to make, just look at the improvised one we have for the current homebrew system
I mean, it's just adding a dropdown for the base damage die. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes for even an entry-level web dev to add in so we can at least start using it before the overhaul is finished.
I know I'm just adding a bit to the noise, and that it's on the road map, BUT I wanna say that I do a TON of custom stuff (running a game AND in playing one) so this change would be incredible. DDB masters, if you're listening, heed my call and make this a high priority. This type of thing would give the power and flexibility to create a world that goes beyond 'high fantasy' and could allow those very dedicated DMs to create all new systems just by homebrewing what's already here. I'd be ever so grateful!
Also, is there a forum/thread just for creating current work around's? I have done a little but would like a place to learn of a lot more. Thanks.
Less exciting than most, but I've been trying to set up a feat to change the Sling's damage type from 1d4 to 1d6, but not only can I not change the damage-type, I can't seem to even find a way to apply effects to sling-type weapons. Setting up stuff like 'ignore weapon property' on a feat seems like it would make the character ignore that property globally.
I could just give the dude a feat that's pure description, then hand him a reskinned shortbow, but... that's not really what I want.
What happend to the ability to make a change to the dice table for an item. My Dm makes us all kinds of weird items that have an alternate damage dice. And i can't change what the base item starts with so for example if its a heavy crossbow it still has the 1d10 damage but I need to change the dice for the custom item he gave me.
Also does anyone know of a way to give a weapon +1 just to damage rolls and not to attack rolls? I want to make a modified weapon for on of my players that just gives a bonus damage being lower level.
There are a lot of weapons from older versions that are not represented in 5e. I am trying to bring forward characters with Bastard Swords and War Axes that just do not fit the current options.

+1 to this topic.
I want my repeating crossbow dammit!
would it be possible to just be allowed to modify all weapon tags?
right now the short and longbow have the wrong range, and the crossbows have the loading tag.
EDIT.
Could it be an idea to add in the ability to set a weapon property to false so it is removed?

Can't wait for these changes! Will help out a TON!
+1 to this, I just want to be able to properly create the custom (and slightly OP) weapons my DM has given me

good work though!!!
Hey Wtdtd! Check out slowcat's reply above!! they totally describe what you need to do for your repeating crossbow to be a thing!!!
I to am making a couple weapons and would really like to be able to change the dice I've made it work for now but I'd much prefer to make them in ddb
This has been an issue for 2 years. Can't we just get full customizable ability yet, please?
