We have made some changes to the public roadmap recently. The former page served its purpose - to be transparent about our plans (including the long term vision) for where we're going with D&D Beyond. I started the page, but a shortage of bandwidth and focus have left it largely out-of-date and static. We still want to be as transparent as we can be with the community, so we're shifting to a page that we will be able to update more frequently and we believe will overall be more useful to the community.
We changed the page's title to "Upcoming Features" for clarity, and organized the features/enhancements to better illustrate what's in progress and what's on deck. As always, we're not giving dates here as much as rough timeframe buckets that we are targeting - everything is subject to change - but it will hopefully give you a solid idea of what we're prioritizing and what is "next" in the short term.
Don't worry, those things in the long term bucket from before - such as a virtual tabletop/gamespace - are still part of our plan. We just aren't ready to talk about them in a meaningful way to the community yet, so we will focus this page on the things we can talk about.
Thanks!

As discussed in recent dev updates, I will share the new Trello board with the feature roadmap for D&D Beyond. This comes with several disclaimers, so be sure to read that part - especially that this is not everything we have planned. The intent is to inform on prioritization!
This Trello board will also be updated at least monthly so you can see over time how those priorities change based on opportunity and community feedback. Thanks for your help making DDB what it is and can't wait for everyone to see what it's going to be in 2019 and beyond (that pun still is not old on our end :D).

As expected, none of the requests with a priority for the players/DMs has been listed in this roadmap.
As expected, the company focus is on stabilization of the code (programming) and accessibility of source material (marketing).
Is there anyone there really playing using DnDBeyond in the Head of Development Staff?
My answer is, *NO*. Otherwise all the basic features we ask since 2 years ago would at least appear in the roadmap.
A very depressed DM and Player.

I get that you're disappointed - we all wish that every feature was already developed!
You're very wrong with that deduction though - the D&D Beyond team are all major D&D fans, with BadEye being one of the most keen of all - they regularly play D&D, using the D&D Beyond site, so please don't imagine that you're dealing with some faceless, corporate entity here. I've met them personally and played D&D with them, so there's no assumptions here on my part.
D&D Beyond only exists because of Badeye's passion for D&D and the vision of what could be created for the D&D community. Let's not forget the talented and dedicated team members that actually make the site happen.
I can guarantee you that for every time you are disappointed that a certain feature hasn't arrived yet, Badeye has looked at what can be accomplished, had the statistics analysed on what there is the greatest demand for (there are multiple data feedback routes) and prioritised accordingly, to deliver the best possible product.
I know that it's difficult when you look at the possibilities of where D&D Beyond could get to, but it will get there and these features? They will be better and more comprehensive than you could expect.

Also, it seems (to me anyway) that everything there is intended to provide convenience for players/ DMs and so I am genuinely perplexed.
We have three product development teams at this point (they are fairly newly-formed) - Characters, Content, and Challenges.
Characters includes all the character management parts of the platform, Content covers game and homebrew content (Compendium, listings, etc.), and Challenges will cover encounters, monster builder, and so on.

Well, now I can imagine myself saying it any other way.
As usual, I thanks BadEye for his patience, but here many seem missing the point...
We don't need a closed system, where everything has to be coded by the developers to be available... we need an open system (a few examples follows).
The point is: have us some self-coding capabilities (like the Snippet code listed here) and let the remaining dirty work be done by DM and players.
Make available to users the ability to add "Templates" enabling them to add every single component or feature they want, and the ability to have it scale with the growth of the characters (as is being done via the subclass options) but available at the top level of the character modification tree, so we can add subclass, features, race modifiers, individual features, special attacks, spells, and everything we need to make our characters UNIQUE.
Let the basic class features be used as intended without making calculations during our sessions (the answer to my previous post regarding the missing working barbarian rage modifiers was very hilarious).
And, for the sake of gods, the never coming containers systems for equipment (mundane and magical), so we can at least have a working Quiver of Ehlonna or a Bag of Holding, and pre-generate a loot chest with its content already listed, simple to add to the equipment of a playing character.
I understand that people are working hard, but, as I told previously, they are keeping it too complex... make it simple. Let us be the creative force behind the screen, and focus only to give us the tools to do it... we don't need another full system.
We only need the basic tools to make everything WE want, not what YOU think we want...
That's my 2 cents, coming from a 53 years old DM and Player, 35 of those spent playing and coding for D&D (any edition).

And yet, other members of the site do want DDB to be a full toolset. You can look at the Zendesk page to see what is most popular for requests, and you can even add in your own requests.
The things on this list are either required for the legal changes from the purchase by Fandom, are needed for maintenence and upkeep, or are things that have been repeatedly requested by users. I'm not sure why you're saying "We need the things WE want, not what YOU think we want" when they are in fact providing what users have asked for.
I mean, in here you're asking about the containers system-- Which is on this Trello list you seem to say doesn't apply to you.
This is why we are so confused as to your response. There's a ton of content on this Trello board that applies to different DM and Player requirements. I don't need AL integration-- but others do, and I think it's great that they're doing it. It'll make AL that much more accessible, which AL DMs, players, and WOTC all want.
And maybe you don't want an Encounter builder, but I do! I don't want to run several different applications when building my sessions, I'd love to do it through DDB. Particularly since they're planning for integration with purchased book adventures-- Which doesn't apply to me, but would be awesome for new DMs. Being able to just click a button to start running an encounter from a book, having all of those details auto-populate? Wow, that sounds like it would be amazing for pick-up and play. Again, not my style-- But great for others.
And hey, you want inventory management, which is also on the list. You also seem to want a Temporary Effects system from your mention of the Barbarian Rage-- Which is also on the list!
We responded to you with confusion because you chose to accuse the Devs of of not using their own system, despite that being the very reason DDB even exists. You chose to claim that none of the requests for players or DMs were listed on this road-map, when there is a veritable feast of player and DM features on this road map. Some may not benefit you, some may not benefit me-- But they benefit people who play and run this game. A tool needs to work for everyone, not just the person who chooses to be the most cynical about the speed of development.
I mean, just look:
Encounter Builder (DM Tool) Mobile Character Sheet (Player Tool) Content Management (DM Tool -- HIGHLY requested, too) AL Character Validation/Logsheet Integration (DM & Player Tool) Character Builder Overhaul (Player Tool) Digital DM Screen (DM Tool) Dice Roller Integration (DM & Player Tool) Combat/Initiative Tracking (DM & Player Tool) Inventory Management (Player Tool) Homebrew Revamp (DM Tool) Character Visualization (DM & Player Tool) Temporary Effects (Player Tool) Export Printable Cards (DM & Player Tool) Virtual Tabletop (DM & Player Tool) Homebrew Adventures (DM Tool) Public Development API (User Tool)
Like, wow. I didn't even include everything. And don't get me wrong-- I don't personally want/need everything on this list. But I have seen everything on this list requested over and over by users. So, you know, it's for someone. And that's the point. DDB wants to be the toolset for everyone. And with a list like this, it's going to be.
PaleMage-- You would be much better off posting your ideas and requests (particularly to the ZenDesk list to be voted upon) than choosing to gripe that the things you personally view as chiefly important have not been put as #1 on the list by a group of developers working their butts off to make something for everyone.
So go and make your request heard! But remember that at the other end of the keyboard are people working hard to make a tool that covers the needs of a huge population, and that the tool is constantly in development by these people. They love D&D, you love D&D, I love D&D -- and it's understandable to be frustrated that the thing you want the most hasn't happened yet, but seriously, give them some credit for what they've done-- And for what is listed plainly here as in the works and on the list.

Looks like someone should be promoted to moderator lol
Would it be possible to get descriptions on each of these tasks so that we know what they entail? Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I don't know what features will be implemented with "Monster Builder", for example.

YES!!! I meant to post this the other day. Some of them have brief descriptions, which don't really entail much, and then others are just completely blank. It would be good to have some more info on what the update would be attempting to add to D&D Beyond

@Badeye,
Would it be possible to get descriptions on each of these tasks so that we know what they entail? Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I don't know what features will be implemented with "Monster Builder", for example.
YES!!! I meant to post this the other day. Some of them have brief descriptions, which don't really entail much, and then others are just completely blank. It would be good to have some more info on what the update would be attempting to add to D&D Beyond
