Just don't manage it like the other online digital "assets" where you pay full price for book content. No one wants to spend +$100 to have access to all the content they already own but online. Otherwise everyone will go back to playing the game for free on Roll20 using free management tools.
I'm willing to spend money on a useful system with great UX, but I'm not willing to pay full price all over again for books I already have just because they're digital.
I think a free tier and a paid tier sounds great, but yeah monthly fees aren't my jam so I'd much rather pay a big lump lifetime membership fee that I save up towards than monthly fees whittling away at my very slim budget indefinitely.
I agree, I am not a fan of monthly payments however I could see this being implemented for character sheets. I do believe additional content should be one-time purchase per account but access to the base SRD content currently present should be available free to all. (My personal opinion)

You are not wise enough to fear me as I should be feared. You do not know the first note of the music that moves me.
The only problem I see is if WotC decides that you need a monthly fee of U$ 19,90 (DDI was that price if I remember correctly) to store multiple character sheets, encounters and so on, and also charge full book price to unlock no OL material.
If turns out that this isn't the case, them I love DnDB unconditionally.
I wouldn't mind paying a U$ 9,90 subscription with access to base products (Player Handbook, Dungeon Masters Guide and Monster Manual) and paying, around U$ 19,90 to unlock other materials, like Volo's Guide or Sword Coast Legends. Since WotC is publishing new material every 6 months (3 months if you include the adventures) it wouldn't be a expressive hole in my finances since I'll keep buying physical copies as well.
Agreed I would not mind paying for a subscription however... By Pelor is my witness if they build it in silverlight I will turn undead the entire staff :P

codes could be generated for one time use plenty of other systems out there use one time codes but then the store would have to seal their book. Amazon and big online companies wouldn't have an issue but my local store seals his books but yeah its only plastic so easy to snap a pic.
I'd be ok with paying a subscription for content, but I think it would be really awful if they did what I've seen mentioned in a couple places, and required a subscription for homebrew content integration. WotC aren't creating that content, and the import feature should be relatively static, so why should I have to keep paying to just maintain access to the same static thing? They might try to justify it as needing extra server space, but really I have several GB of space across various cloud accounts and harddrives, just let me save my HB repository somewhere there so it's only taking up my storage, and the app just searches through that instead of the D&D:B servers.
I'm not convinced I would want to pay a monthly fee, since I already paid for the books. I'd always prefer a lifetime fee, though I do wonder at the price point.
I like the idea that someone had of the books having a unique code in them that you can redeem online, the next system/book released should definitely have this.
I am cool with a monthly sub, hell I spend enough on MMO subs, I can afford to sub for this if they provide all the content and not just OGL items. However having to re-buy my books would without a doubt be a deal breaker for me. I am fine using the bare bones of the OGL on the fly but I already have GameMaster 5 on my iphone with full content. I don't know if I would even bother with this if I have to repurchase books.
Honestly I really want this to work, If they are able to keep a single edition around for a while and keep money flowing (by providing a service with value) then they don't have to make DND [6E] so make money again.
WIth 3.5 and 4th they just kept releasing books till the rule base was so broken that they finally had to start over. (IMHO)

I wonder if there's anyway they could retroactively add unique codes to books... maybe some kind of service where you take the books to some location and they'll give it a unique code. It would have to be done in person, otherwise people could just not stick the code in or whatever, and have multiple people using the same book to get the content in D&D:B.
I was also thinking on this possibility (to avoid paying twice for the content from books that you already own). Looks that present the real book on a store, would be the only way that can guarantee 100% that it won't be used by someone else besides the real book owner.
But, I'm afraid that this will be a problem for D&D book owners overseas.

My only question about this is why would you have to take it somewhere else to get it checked? Can the code (or whatever would be used) be printed or placed inside the book and have the book sealed or packaged (seran wrap even) and then if the book packaging is opened then don't but it. If it is there should be a way for the stores to check if it is still a valid code.

One time only payments are good imho..

I would be more willing to do an up front payment. A monthly fee is a bit to rough on a college student :/
Hell yeah I am going to Polymorph the boss into a Rabbit. I have always wanted a being a pure evil stuffed into a ball of fluff.

reasonably populated free tier with a premium subscription would be good.
Am i the only one who thinks there should be a way to unlock all the content at once?

A lifetime subscription would be the best option I would definitely do it
