How can I add a spell scroll to a character's inventory, while specifying which spell it contains? I can only find "Spell Scroll (1st Level)", etc. in the item listing.
Either note in personal possessions, or you can create a homebrew item, however please do not publish as spell scrolls will be rejected (I like my queue empty :P).
But, DnDB currently enumerates all possible options for other template items. For instance, in the DMG, you'll find the "Vicious Weapon". But in the character creator, you find "Vicious Dagger" and "Vicious Crossbow, Light" etc.
At the very least, it'd be nice to be able to add notes to items, like "Spell Scroll (1st Level) [Note: Identify]" or "Vicious Dagger [Note: Taken from Count Dread]".
It would be great if you could add just a Scroll. And in that container you could add all the spells that it includes. Normally when you find a scroll it contains serveral spells of different levels. If you divide it to different scrolls it doesnt work as you can give some away.

Multi-spells scrolls is an interesting concept, I am not sure I have seen that in any sourcebook (unless it's in XGTE, which I have still not had time to read cover-to-cover). Normally, in my experience, spell scroll only contain one spell of a specific level, but the idea of having the item "Spell Scroll lvlx" (I would still divide it by level, for ease) act as a sort of container, letting you add single-use spells you find in the form of scrolls sounds very interesting, and possibly way better than having the possibility to modify the name of the scroll item itself or add a note to it, this way it could appear similar to the spell list already present in the character sheet.

I hadn't heard of it either however I'm finally getting to play as a player and my DM has been around since the 2E days and does the same thing so maybe it's an older D&D thing.

That's correct. In 1e, scrolls could contain a number of spells. But I don't think that's the case in 5e, even though I haven't seen anything expressly forbidding it.
We might play with old rules thats stuck to our backbone, but if you find a scroll in an adventure we play it like:
DM: You search the dead magic user and find two rolled up papers. We: What is it? What does it say? DM: Its two scrolls, and your magic user can read that its a spell of Grease and a spell of Levitate. And on the second scroll its a spell of Cure Wounds that your cleric can read.
It might be wrong and that every scroll only holds one spell.
According to the description of the Spell Scroll it does indeed only contain one spell as per D&D5ed, but it's interesting to se this was not the case in earlier versions (I only briefly played 2ed when I was really young, and soonish after that 3ed came out, so I am more used to those rules).
I would be curious to know how the multi-spell scrolls would work when you use one spell: it just disappears from the scroll?

The spell just vanished when you used it or scribed it into your spellbook. The thing was that you could not split the scroll, and give it to several characters because it was just one paper. So even if you had a sorcerer spell and a wizard spell, only one character could hold on to the scroll at a time. :)

The only way to have a custom scroll is to Homebrew it and share to your campaign... I did it today for a Spell Scroll (Gaseous Form) my party found in the last session.
Procedure: Select from menu Item > Create a Magic Item, select a Spell Scroll (appropriate level) magic item, homebrew/copy it, add the desired spell at the bottom of the customization page. There is no need to add the description of the spell: it is automatically included by the spell selection.

For some reason I cannot grok, the mods reject any published homebrew with specific spells. This is not reasonable? You're making every DM repeat the work over and over again of making spell scrolls with specific spells on them. As has been pointed out above, specific versions of other template items exist. Fantasy Grounds implements Spell scroll of X content in all the official WotC book packages. This clearly should be a set of items in the main section, or *at least* let us make them ourselves and share them to the community. I cannot understand the logic for not having these available.

Seconded
There doesn't seem to be an option to add the name of the spell the scroll actually contains anywhere.

Eh, I guess that works as a workaround... Any plans on adding them as actual items, or allow us to set the actual spell, eventually? =)
No because they aren't actual items in the DMG. All official items need to match back to the corresponding entries.

It would be cool if when you add it then it would prompt a drop-down menu where you could just pick a spell.
I'll fling it through to staff when I'm chatting with them next to see if they can make this a little more user friendly. :)
