Motmet's feathers around her beak come forth a little.
"Er, I'm all right... I just haven't spent a lot of time on the Material Plane. I just left the nest, so to speak. I believe I would be aged three years in human time, actually."
Sariel starts to walk around in circles waiting on the drawf to come back.
What interested you two in this job? Oh. I should also mention that I am not a halfling. I am an elf. Half elf actually. The dwarf mistook me for a halfling earlier because of my height.. I got my height from my mother.
Oh, are you half human and half elf?
Anyway, I was interested in this job because I've been looking for a new job ever since I graduated from Neverwinter. I've also been wanting to travel for a long time.
Motmet's feathers around her beak come forth a little.
"Er, I'm all right... I just haven't spent a lot of time on the Material Plane. I just left the nest, so to speak. I believe I would be aged three years in human time, actually."
“Yes I am half elf half human. I’m interested in the job becuase it costs money to live. I do admit I spent a little too much at the tavern last night.”
Sariel looks at Motmel and says. “Curiosity eh? Nothing wrong with that. Knowledge is the pillar to life. You’re brave to venture out on your own.”
As the three women make small talk, the clerk returns with an older gentleman. He was tall and burly with a scruffy grey beard and matching hair. “Ladies, this is Sildar Hallwinter. Former captain of the Neverwinter Watch and sellsword. He will be in charge of getting you girls organized for the road.”
Sildar greeted the three with a level of dignity that rivaled the nobility. “A pleasure.”
Motmet's attention is torn from the sky to the man. She cocks her head to the side, as she peers at him. The grey plumage rises ever so slightly on her crest.
Sildar looked at Sariel with brief confusion before briefly getting annoyed and looking toward the clerk that brought him in. “We talked about tricking people who step into the office. Especially potential hires.”
The clerk gave a mischievous smirk. “Come now Sil, you know i only work with people i like. A first impression is important.”
”You’re a stinking sod, you know that Gundren?” Sildar gave a chuckle and turned forward. “Well if it wasn’t obvious, this knob right here is Gundren Rockseeker. He likes to keep tabs on any who walk through that door so he plays at being his own clerk.”
Son of a ..... Of course the dwarf was Gundren. Sariel thinks to herself
Of course you would be Gundren (Sariel looks at the dwarf.) I thought as much. I just didn't want to assume anything. I didn't properly introduce myself when I walked in. I am Sariel Gimmergaunt and I think this should be quite interesting.
Motmet gave a greeting and chirped amusingly at Gundren's ruse.
Gundren then tried to become serious as he prepared his thoughts. "This expedition is going to take us south of the Neverwinter Forest. To a settlement called Phandalin. It's seventy five miles of travel. We'll be taking the High Road when we depart. About forty five miles down the road we'll depart for the trail. Phandalin is about thirty miles toward the foot of the sword mountains. This is going to be our base of operations for the expedition." He then began to lose composure as the excitement overwhelmed him. "I expect you to work hard lasses!"
Gundren broke out into a toothy grin as if he were unable to contain himself.
Sariel had to hold in her laughter at Gundren's attempt to be serious.
What are the specifics of this expedition? The whys and such? You can expect hard work out of me sir. Sariel said as she gave Sildar a slight bow
“We are going into the hills of the mountain. The rest, i’m afraid, is classified.” Gundren said flatly.
Before anyone could ask Sildar cut in saying, “Forgive the secrecy ladies, but we are trying to keep the specifics of the expedition underwraps. At least until we depart. If word got out we could lose our fiscal advantage for this opportunity. It’s nothing personal, just good business sense. As for work you only need to come with us as far as Phandalin. Once there, if you three decide to continue with us, we will be glad to share the details with you. If not, then you are free to take your money and go.”
“In three days time.” Said Sildar. “As soon as i find a fourth member to pull your wagon. It may only be half a days journy but the road is still treacherous. And forgive the impression ma’am, but you all look like greenhorns”

Oh is that so? Why did you leave the nest so to speak?
Motmet shrugs her feathered shoulders.
"Curiosity, I suppose."
“Yes I am half elf half human. I’m interested in the job becuase it costs money to live. I do admit I spent a little too much at the tavern last night.”

Motmet smiles with her eyes and a moment passes, then she stares longingly up at the sky. Already, she feels like she has been grounded for too long.

"Well met!"
Her red-brown eyes shine with anticipation.
“Gundren is excited to have you ladies join us. I look forward to working with you.”
Pleasure to meet you Sildar. Who is Gundren?
Sildar looked at Sariel with brief confusion before briefly getting annoyed and looking toward the clerk that brought him in. “We talked about tricking people who step into the office. Especially potential hires.”

“Pleasure to finally make your acquaintance ladies.” Gundren said with a bow.

Perfectly understood. When will we part?
“In three days time.” Said Sildar. “As soon as i find a fourth member to pull your wagon. It may only be half a days journy but the road is still treacherous. And forgive the impression ma’am, but you all look like greenhorns”
