Assuming the baron is at least on considering being on board with the plan to wait, Rex will peer towards the Lord's Alliance Representatives. Turning to Susan, "We should get the Lord's Alliance support next. I believe they have close ties to the adventure league and both are well funded organizations, it would be a boon to have them on our side. If the Baron does herald to our side then his council should quickly fall in line behind him." After a quick ponder Rex continues, "I will also see if any of my contacts in town would be willing to 'help' with the scouting, but I can seek them out after this meeting is settled".
Rex will wait for Susan and the rest of the party to take the next step.
Secretly, Fin's failure with his commander has his feather's ruffled. He hates being wrong, and this holds the same sting as that. Outwardly, all that shows are his eyebrows a little more furrowed. He says to Rex and Susan, a little more gruffly than he means to, "If we are to take military action, we will need the aid of the military. Perhaps Greenskin's silver tongue will hold more sway with Duncan than I was able. The Lord's Alliance is an independent organization; the aid of the city lays with Duncan and the other generals."
Rex gives a chuckle, "You just have to learn to read the room my friend. Duncan is a stick in the mud, we should let him be, perhaps one of the other generals will be more willing to talk to you, or perhaps you might have more luck with the soldier's representatives they seem like they might be more your style. I'll give a crack at Harker, we'll need his scouts. I also think we should work with Guerrilla tactics over a full frontal assault."
OOC: What is the extent of our current knowledge of the situation? Just that there are oni and goblins or do we have specifics on numbers, intent, etc?
OOC: What is the race of the outrider, and what are they like? If possible, I'd like to make an insight check to get a feel for them. (And I roll a nat 1, so much for getting a feel.)
I rolled a 19, I add 4 for Persuasion rolls (Susan's eyelashes flutter) for a total of 23 (generally men tend to respond to the natural charms of a lady especially if she can put forward a convincing and logical argument).
Susan spoke gently with the Lords Alliance representatives.

"General Harker, I plead to you that you hold off the attack. We should gather more information before we proceed. Attacking uninformed would be an inexcusable reason to lose this fight!"
Cha(Persuasion) : roll (20 + 4) = 24! woot.
With the expected reaction to that roll Rex will outreach his hand to lock hands in a powerful handshake with General Harker to make a show of strength to the rest of the room as the two agree on a plan of attack!

Ninjacat, you see a few strange things, chief among them black-cloaked humanoids entering an abandoned building, and raspy voices speaking what you think is Draconic, coming from the sewers. You also see many inns, taverns and shops.

Rex will gladly take the +5 to his roll.

Hahah.... 5. (2+3) Irthos sucks at persuading. However, intimidation is his strong suit.
