Yawgou looks for Belzaphira, dodging around the rest of the stampede (Athletics: 11) in his attempt to find her.
Seeing her on the ground, unmoving, he lays one of his hands on her, and whispers under his breath, "Pelor, lend her your strength," as he casts Spare the Dying to stabilize her.
(I can still make the Medicine check if needed: 25)

Yawgou continues to keep his hand on Belzaphira, casting Cure Wounds: 9. "You took quite the hit, my friend. Welcome back. We should find a safe place to set camp and regroup. Where is Bear and Astra?"
OOC:
That's my second and last spell slot at 1st level, so a long rest would be optimal.

Belzaphira sucks in a hard breath when the healing magic courses over her body. "Damnable shepherds. Tell me you at least made those fools pay for this effrontery?" she says, wincing as she stands up. With a blink, she looks around, seeing if she can spot the other two.

"Yes, they have fallen. But this silence...is deafening, rather than comforting. Poor Astra; I fear she has fallen into shadow, as well," Yawgou says, clutching his amulet. "As I suggested, we should continue to move and find a place for shelter, so that we may rest and discuss what we've experienced thus far. Find what you can about those creatures, and take what you can. I will keep watch."
Yawgou casts Light once again at the top of his quarterstaff, and looks out into the distance of the plains, ever watchful. Perception: 8
All that can be seen is the dead grass and open plain for miles. To your back lies the cliff you descended in order to make contact with the deep cows and their grotesque shepherds.
Bear's heavy breathing subsides and she stands a little taller as her rage evaporates. Hearing Yawgou's comment about Astra, anger and pain flash in the barbarian's eyes. "What is this place that even cattle are something to fear?"

"I know not, but we best not give in to fear. I see nothing in the distance. We should be safe for now. Let's search these shepherds for anything that can indicate where we might be."
Yawgou brings his lit quarterstaff down to examine the body of the nearest shepherd, first searching for items of interest.
Investigating the body, Yawgou finds a pouch filled with smooth pebbles and dried meat. Bear notices that on the shepherd's right shoulder is branded a raven. The shepherd itself is grey and bloated, bearing a grotesque resemblance to a man.

"Hmm...rocks and meat are all this one has." Yawgou will actually take some of the meat and pop it in his mouth to see what it tastes like as he walks over to examine the body of the other shepherd. Investigation: 11
(OOC: To clarify -- Yawgou is looking to see if these creatures were undead.)
The meat is similar to beef jerky, but grey and bitter. Yawgou assumes it is deep cow. The second shepherd wears a bone necklace and bears the same raven brand as the first.
Yawgou takes the bag of pebbles and meat, as well as the bone necklace, and puts them into his own bag. "We may yet find a use for these, and this raven brand is something we should affix to memory," he says, concerned. "Let's keep moving and see if we can find shelter." He begins moving forward across the middle of the plains, away from the cliff they had previously descended.
The plain stretches for miles, and after a solid four hours walk you collapse beneath a solitary tree, blighted and grey. The dead tree's branches wave gently, though you have not felt a breath of wind since you arrived in this unhallowed world.
(OOC: Sorry I missed that I was up in rotation. Hopefully the dice are less angry the next time).
The shepherd falls under the stampeding deep cows with a primal howl.
Yawgou can still stabilize Belzaphira with a DC 10 Athletics or Acrobatics check and a DC 10 Medicine check before she has to make another Death ST.
33 XP each!

(Oh yeah that nat 20 will do)
Yawgou hurdles three deep cows in his haste to reach Belzaphira, and calling on his god and his own medicinal proficiency he stabilizes her.

So, the shepherds are down, but there's still a stampede of cows around us?

Bear stands over the corpse of the second shepherd, but Astra is nowhere to be seen. You realize that you have not seen her since the stampede.
By now the deep cows have fled down the plain, and you are left in silence.

What would I roll to find out if the brand is familiar to Bear?
Bear has never seen anything like it before. But that is hardly surprising; this entire world is new to her.
