So, guess who got The Yawning Portal in and wants to start using it? That's right, your buddy G to the Moat. So, after discussing with one of our amazing Mods (who unfortunately can't play with us :/ ) I have been given the go ahead to run this adventure. Now, there are some rules with that. I can't copy and paste the material and post pictures from it. Hey, done! That was easy, no? So, without further ado let me fill you in.
You will be starting just outside the village of Oakhurst. Usually, I am open to use anything that's available. But with this posting I will only accept PHB classes and races. I want it to have that old school D&D feel. Also, you can use the UA Revised Ranger. Because, it makes sense to play that one instead of the PHB one. Any questions, hit me up in a message or on here. 4-6 players. :)

Backstory
Born in a poor family, Rick Kal Hallec, known to everyone as Kal, or Kae, was only 4 when his father died after being mauled by bandits. Just 3 years later, his mother died giving birth to his baby brother. Without any education or surviving family members aside from his brother and his grandfather who was senile and severely ill, he managed to support the remnants of his family by serving as an errand boy and a squire to a wealthy boy knight. When he turned 10, his grandfather died after having battled cholera for over 6 years. He sold the house in order to get some money and then bought a smaller, cheaper, house. His friend Harris looked over his brother while he worked day and night in order to pay for food. When he became 12 however, tragedy struck once more. A plague ravaged the land, and thus he had to retreat from his village with his brother. He traveled and traveled day and night to reach a smaller village in the north which was untouched by the plague. Over there, he secured the aid of the village elders who provided them shelter and education, not to mention food. When he was 19, and his brother was 12, his brother was murdered along with over 9 other people in the village. Heartbroken, Kal traveled further north in search of enlightenment. He found a small cave and meditated there for 12 years while the plague reached the village he once lived and the grass grew once more. When he woke, Kal had finally reached the truth. Changing his name to Kaedak, or Truthful, he set out to explore the world and to save others from the fate he experienced.

BIO:
I was found on the steps of a temple, an orphan. I was then raised by the temple as a whole, with no distinct parents. The nuns watched over me as a baby, the priests as a toddler, and it became a joke that from then on, they had to unite to raise me. When I was 10, the high Priest had a vision about my future, a vision from Pelor himself. The vision showed me as a Cleric of Pelor, spreading his light across the land. From then on I was no longer being raised, I was trained, it was not often that Pelor chose a Cleric. I was to be the first Cleric to come from this temple despite its rather large size. After six years of training I am going on my first adventure to prove my ready and worth to Pelor, and to my family.
Appearance: A sturdy young man, about 5'11 and 200 lbs. With dark blonde, straw like hair that looks like it has finished growing to a normal length after getting closely cut. With a light tan covering his body and deep chocolate brown eyes.
This is what the vestments look like.
Just imagine a sun on the back.
Personality: Fin is a kindhearted person, so his gods commands come first, but he'll go to any lengths to help someone including strangers. He is constantly nice to those that even insult him, as insults wash off him like water. He puts up with it even more so with his friends and family. He is a lot like the god he follows, spreading warmth and kindness like the suns rays. Unless you make the mistake of threatening something he loves, then you're in trouble. His own life doesn't matter as he believes he is below his friends and family. He then embraces the other half of his god, a burning flame of anger that scorches all that have wronged him. While it is common to were the vestments everywhere, fin rather reserves it for holy practices, on a mission sent from Pelor, meeting people from a temple, very important first impressions, or when working as a healer out side his party. He prefers to wear commoners clothes as he sees dirt, stains, and blood getting on his vestments as a insult to his god. He is a bit absent minded and accidentally switches languages sometimes
Reroll 1 or 2 on damage if wielding two-handed/versatile melee weapon in both hands

Proficiencies:
Light, Medium, Heavy armor, shields, simple and martial weapons
Languages:
Common, Elven
Background and Characteristics:
Folk Hero – Rustic Hospitality
Since I come from the ranks of the common folk, I fit in among them with ease. I can find a place to hide, rest, or recuperate among other commoners, unless I have shown myself to be a danger to them. They will shield me from the law or anyone else searching for me, though they will not risk their lives for me.
Personality Traits: I’m confident in my own abilities and do what I can to instill confidence in others. If someone is in trouble, I’m always ready to lend help. Ideals: Sincerity. There’s no good in pretending to be something I’m not. Bonds: My tools are symbols of my past life, and I carry them so that I will never forget my roots. Flaws: I have a weakness for the vices of the city, especially hard drink.
Ivor comes from a small village that was ruthlessly attacked by a band of goblins, he was but a simple woodsman until that day. He managed to save his village, but in doing so lost his family. To this day the village still regards him as a hero, albeit a reluctant one, which makes Ivor uncomfortable. After losing everything he cherished to the goblin raiders, he was a broken man, and decided to leave his village in an attempt to find himself again (usually at the bottom of a bottle). To this day, his trusty maul which helped him save his village, is never far from reach as he wanders the land in search of purpose, helping where and when he can to survive.
Would this be new-ish player friendly? I've done some pbp before, but still pretty new to D&D in general.
Well, that's why I am here. For all you new players who want to get into a game. Now, it's super slow paced, not like a game around the table. But, you do have a chance to build a story and work out combat details. As long as you're not a Hanzo main, you're in. lol (Jk, you can be a Hanzo main and still play in my game...lol) But if you need any help building a character, lmk. Either on this thread or in a message. :)

if you time zone is reasonable, I am in (druid).
With this being a PbP, it won't matter the time zone. I usually am on myself Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM EST, and usually jump on the forums throughout the night and weekend. :)
