Krisnen keeps his voice low "4 of them, four of us, seems like a fair enough fight."
OOC: Three of us have Darkvision. Do we still have the disadvantage on perception checks? I'd like to make a perception check to make sure there isn't anyone waiting nearby before we advance.
OOG ( Indeed, darkvision makes darkness into dim light for you. In dim light you have disadvantage on Perception. But in any case, you made some good rolls ;-)
[Krisnen does not percepive any more perils nearby]
OOG (if you guys want to "charge" directly roll initiative)
[Gapmasta the ranger eavesdrops the hooded figures. They don't seem to notice. One of them is telling the children to be silent and to obey, they soon will be part of something greater. The other are loading some sack on the boat]
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
DM would it be possible for us to launch a volley of ranged attacks in a coordinated strike?
Fergus unslings his crossbow and cocks it back, loading a bolt. He turns to the others "Forester, you and I target the one manning the rudder. Priest call down some wrath of your God on the one at the mooring lines. Dwarf target the one guarding the children. After our first volley the Priest, the Dwarf, and I will charge. Forester, you provide cover fire and keep an eye out for any reinforcements. Okay men, let's go!"
Initiative: 18

As for me, I choose to believe that an extinct thunder lizard is running a game of Dungeons & Dragons via Twitter!
OOC: Since we haven't actually attacked yet and they don't know we are there shouldn't our first attack come first? Even if we don't achieve full surprise.

OOG (Mmm no, if the party want to attack first, you have to try to surprise them. Even if initially they were not aware of the party, they become aware the moment you attack without being stealth. )
OOC: I am confused, they are unawares of us, and we are attacking, isn't that surprise? We should get our ranged attack (which I am all for) and then we roll initiative and start combat correct? << At this point I am assuming they are unaware of us, instead of just ignoring us.

[The party follows the trail Krisnen found close by the farmhouse. After roughly 1 hour, they reach a location on the coast]
"A keelboat stays near a wooden dock. Four hooded figure seems ready to sail. They have two children with them."
[It is a clear night. Because of the darkness the party has disadvantage in Perception]
OOC: Whoa there nelly! Are we just pretending that the Sorcerer is now the Ranger? Enquiring minds want to know?

OOC: Kids are the devil, and they seem to be these shadowy figures cohorts, I mean you should have seen what they did to their parents. :P
I sneak up up to the group in an attempt to overhear what their saying.
