If you cast a spell or effect that has a save please note what that is in your statement. E.G. "I cast Charm on the orc. (DC 14 wisdom)"
When you make an attack action include the attack roll and the damage roll with the statement that way if it hits I already have the damage and if it misses it doesn't matter. E.G. Xalryn attacks the orc with his rapier Attack: 18 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
You each have your own reasons to have begun the adventuring life but one thing you all discovered very quickly is that to survive in this harsh world you will need a source of income. That beer isn't going to pay for itself. Searching around for gainful employment you meet Grond, a Goliath barbarian, who needs some stout fellows to help him in his quest for vengeance.
"When I was young my village was sacked by an orc horde led by Dargg Kinslayer. I was taken as a slave and sold to a gladiator ring and most of the rest of the villagers where killed. I earned enough from my fights to buy out my contract and now I am searching for KInslayer so that I may have my revenge. I have heard that his band is to the south near a town called Phandalin. If you help me I am willing to pay you each 10gp plus I will forsake any share of treasure as Kinslayer's death is what I most crave."
Gijigume spits on the floor. "Revenge: I can identify wi' that," he comments, uncharacteristically coarse for an elf, "an' I aint got no other ship t' sail on at the moment, so you can count me in." Theelf stands ready: it seems he has all of his possessions with him.
Agiha, sat tuning his instrument as he listen to Grond's tale, sigh at the thought of fighting blood. However money is money and rebuilding his title will take plenty of coin to do so. "Well, though blood is the last thing I wish to shed, I will not deny a request to bring peace to one's soul." He strummed the lute, listening for an key out of tune. "Let's make the people sing of our valor and let the winds of peace carry it 'till the end of time."

“More than five hundred years ago, clans of dwarves and gnomes made an agreement known as the Phandelver’s Pact, by which they would share a rich mine in a wondrous cavern known as Wave Echo Cave. In addition to its mineral wealth, the mine contained great magical power. Human spellcasters allied themselves with the dwarves and gnomes to channel and bind that energy into a great forge (called the Forge of Spells), where magic items could be crafted. Times were good, and the nearby human town of Phandalin (pronounced fan-duh-lin) prospered as well. But then disaster struck when orcs swept through the North and laid waste to all in their path.”

Agiha is intrigued by the story as this provides more incentive to rid this land of the orc horde. Though he wondered what the profit of owning said mine might yield, he shook the thought from his head as he wanted to prove himself with his talents, not through ownership. He returned to Grond, lute in hand as he played a simple soothing tune.
Your band begins its travels to the south next day. Igneous the monk gets Grond talking and he regales you of his adventures in the gladiatorial ring. Midway through the second day of your travels you round a turn in the road and spot two dead horses sprawled about fifty feet ahead of you, blocking the path. Each has several black-feathered arrows sticking out of it. You can also see the remains of tack that indicates that they where pulling a wagon that is nowhere to be seen. The woods press close to the trail here, with a steep embankment and dense thickets on either side.
This optional rule allows characters to heal up in the thick of combat and works well for parties that feature few or no characters with healing magic, or for campaigns in which magical healing is rare.
As an action, a character can use a healing surge and spend up to half his or her Hit Dice. For each Hit Die spent in this way, the player rolls the die and adds the character’s Constitution modifier. The character regains hit points equal to the total. The player can decide to spend an additional Hit Die after each roll.
A character who uses a healing surge can’t do so again until he or she finishes a short or long rest.
Under this optional rule, a character regains all spent Hit Dice at the end of a long rest. With a short rest, a character regains Hit Dice equal to his or her level divided by four (minimum of one die).
I'm going to keep an eye out and move up if anyone else will as support if a fight starts, also I ready my dagger.
Grond joins Igneous and they move to the dead horses. Grond checks the ground for tracks (wisdom( Survival)) 8 while Igneous scans the trees around them (wisdom(Perception)) 19
There are some obvious but confusing tracks leading away from the horses and there appears to be nothing of interest in the surrounding forest.
I offer to help Grond move the horses out of the way, I put my dagger back but keep an eye out for anything
As you clear the path Grond waves everyone else forward.
"Those are orc arrows in the horses" he snarls "there was a wagon and there are no bodies. I think some people are in a huge amount of trouble. Are any of you good at tracking?"

Assuming you agree you move of to the south.
