Random observation from the new intro. The eye in Fjord’s falchion, wasn’t it just in the pommel until last week when he merged with another orb and a second appeared on the hilt? The animation shows the eye in the hilt in at least two cuts. Granted, it doesn’t show one on the pommel at any point, so we’re still only at one eye prior to last week. Was the first eye always at the hilt? Did I remember that wrong? Not trying to be like “it’s all wrong!” or “Scripted!” Just thought it was an interesting catch.
(I have not seen this past Thursday's episode, so I am worried about spoilers.) That being said I actually have a question for an expert here that has seen Liam's most recent One Shot: "The Song of Lorelei." I was wondering if the characters they used are posted anywhere. I am curious about the mechanics they used. It seems to be well done. (Naturally, it would have been.) Thanks,
That is a pretty perfect link. Even if it does not have what I asked, it provided a lot of cool information I am glad you shared the link to. Awesome! Sam's character looks like Fjord's twin...was that intentional?
My daughter is watching an episode of Super Monsters and this episode has a baby Yeti that actually looks 100% like a baby blue Tiefling we all like. If I knew how to share a photo here I would...

You can get the URL of online images by right-clicking them and choose copy image location (or similar, may vary by browser) and have it copied to your computer clipboard. You can also right-click and choose properties. If you are unable to do these you can also try taking a screenshot of the page, use an image editor like Paint or Gimp to crop the image to what you want and upload it online on an image hosting service like Imgur.com. If you use the latest version of Firefox with a Firefox account you can right-click the area of the page and choose "take a screenshot" - a built-in browser feature for taking screen-shots - it'll tell you how to use it when it's the first time you use it.
Just dropping a note to let D&D Beyond know that I've come from watching CR:C2 and picked up a Legendary Bundle. Please keep sponsoring the show :)
I too. Not Legendary but certainly Critical Role has inspired me to purchase nearly every core book: PH, DM, MM, Volo, X...pretty amazing Persuasion considering that I own all the hard copies too.
Nope...nothing I do works to add a photo. I tried both url link and BBCode. (Using flickr.) I guess I am just an old man that can not figure out this fancy new internets stuff....thanks for the suggestions.
Hey clear_seeker, why not just post the link itself? We can always go to the site ourselves, or someone else can get the image insert to work.
I wanted to get back onto D&D early last year, which is how I found DDB and a few months later Critical Role. It was almost finishing its Vox Machina campaign, but by watching the VODs and listening to the podcasts at work and while on walks I was able to finish it the same week as the Mighty Nein campaign premiered. By that point, I'd forgotten about DDB. Just made a few characters using the Basic Rules, but had no game to play.
At that time, I was in a two-player Deathwatch campaign. The other player was a long-time Critical Role fan, and the GM was just getting into it at the start of Campaign 2. So I asked if they would be cool to take an occasional break from this game to play a one-shot or two that I can DM. I never had DMed before, so just a one-shot was all I was looking for.
Well, then the GM's wife wanted to join, because she liked Critical Role now too and wanted to try this whole D&D thing. Then the other player had a friend, and they had both just left a D&D campaign because it was veering into "magical realm" territory. It went from being a one-shot to yeah, I guess I'll DM a full party in a full campaign.
Since Critical Role reminded me of DDB's existence, it seemed like the perfect spot to get us going. I had already bought a bunch of player options for my own casual use a couple months past, so I ended up getting the Legendary Bundle to round it out and unlock everything for my players.
Hey, you two opened up a web page that you heard about on Critical Role. Now are you ready to kick some butt? ;) (Bet it's impossible to read that without hearing Sam.)
We got our first real infodump on Yasha's backstory last night.
That is all.
I'm really glad it was Jester and Cad, the clerics who've spent so much of their own lives alone, that Yasha felt willing to open up to about her past.
The Beau/Yasha shipping just got more complicated.
It has finally been confirmed that Yasha likes the ladies but also details she is unlikely to ever be with anyone ever again due to her marriage to her wife lasting beyond death (something Marisha realised if you watch her expressions).
There were a lot of great moments throughout this episode! Having Ashley back was great, and I loved the test of strength for her from the Storm Lord.
I'm wondering if anyone is going to call Fjord out on all his recent dickery, especially towards Nott! The draw of his patron's power is getting to him and I think if no one steps him to put him in check he might go down a very dark path. Three weeks is too long of a wait!
To be fair, Nott's sarcastic shade-throwing at every instance of Fjord talking down to her (all the way back to their early days in Zadash, IIRC) are always entertaining. I half-expect her to turn to Jester one of these days and mutter, "I don't know what you see in him..!" He does have an unfortunate habit of fjorgetting that Nott is a lot sharper than her size and age would suggest, even discounting the drive of his patron to complete the quest.
There were a lot of great moments throughout this episode! Having Ashley back was great, and I loved the test of strength for her from the Storm Lord.
Side note: I did not watch Campaign one.
Although I like to see Ashley coming back (because I like her as a person), I don't like Yasha being so stoic and dull. I have watched the Stream of Many Eyes from a few months ago (because of Deborah Ann Woll) and Ashley's Half Orc Cleric was as "uninspired" as Yasha. That's when I started to ask whether Pike from Campaign 1 was as uninteresting when watching Ashley play here. The other "guest stars" have done great characters so far (Twiggy was a blast) and Yasha looks so pale compared to them.
But back on the episode:
The Ukatoa plot has reached a point for me, where my interest has started to fade. I pay less and less attention to details and start to shake up locations of the "orbs" and the "seal/gate temples". Avantica used her orb at one temple, Fjord still has one orb in his chest, the third one is where? And the next temple? Matt Mercer has given us an update on the war in the Empire, which should be the next big plot to return to after a big show down with Fjord's arc in the next one or two sessions (?). I want to know more about Caleb's goals, Nott's plan to use a "powerful Caleb" for her own cause and Beau as a "secret agent".
PS: if you have not seen the Nightmare before Critmas one shot, watch it. Over four hours of your lifetime well invested, IMHO.
I get where you’re coming from, and having watched all of C1 before catching up, I will affirm that Pike was another “straight man” type character. She had a few good episodes where having her around made a big difference. Specifically, the episode before and during Keyleth’s “We’re basically gods” goldfish leap, where Pike’s family came to mooch. But she was more noticably talkative, if only because they were still Skyping her in as often as not and she had chemistry with those characters that she’s never had time to develop with this batch. This campaign, when she’s gone she’s just gone.
I get the feeling they’re trying to steer the campaign away from the Ukutoa plot for a while and back to more landlocked issues, but being at sea, it’s hard to avoid.

The first eye was always in the hilt, yes, and only on the one side (no Sword of Omens yet!). The pommel is the latest addition.

Might be tough finding all the information from the one-shots, but if anyone would it would be the folks at CritRoleStats.

Beausha? Yeau?
It was a good episode and it was nice to see Ashley back. Kudos to Matt for taking advantage of that to progress her character.
