Hi, in usually play strength based characters. Rn I'm playing a high-dex rogue. What are some neat things I can do with my dex checks. Roleplaying or combat wise. Like how with my str chars I do a lot of tackling and shoving in combat. Especially on boats. Or I'll lift people and things around town for the hell of it.
Are there things I can use dex for? Like disarming someone using finesse or like sabatoge a pistol. Or place a vial of poison or some type of explosive on their person depending on dms
Pick pockets, pick locks, disarm traps, perform acrobatics, parkour, balance on tightropes, catch things quickly, avoid hazards, evade better, react faster, hunt better, aim better, hide and sneak about, and probably more I can't think of right now.
Rogue's can generally sneak very very easily. Depending on your Dm you can pull coup de gace on sleeping/unconcious enemies. You can pickpocket easier, pick locks easier, use sleight of hand for stealing and or cheating in games (cheated in some poker with my rogue). sneak attacks are ways of getting great dps on a creature, and rogue's are good at hiding and going unsuspected if line of sight is lost. Id suggest a light finesse weapon for use, such as a scimitar, dagger or rapier. For your asking of placing poison or explosives this can be done but is very high risk high reward, especially with explosives. Don't want a enemy who can easily grapple or close distance stuck with a explosive and catch you or your party in the blast.
Flipping, dodge-rolling, jumping around. Picture every sword fight in Pirates of the Caribbean - that's all Dex. I think Dex is a lot more fun to use in combat than strength, unless you want to be a grappler. OH also The Princess Bride, those fights are all Dex as well (with some Int thrown in)
EDIT: You can cut your initials into the enemy's shirt, and then laugh as you dance away into the night.

I know what you're thinking: "In that flurry of blows, did he use all his ki points, or save one?" Well, are ya feeling lucky, punk?
