A Message from Zulkir Tam

To the loyal citizens of Thay, and to the seven zulkirs who share with me the burden of its governance,

Troubling reports reach me, even in my seclusion at Thaymount.  Whispers that I, who have served Thay for nearly four hundred years, who have graciously relinquished regency over its governance, am somehow plotting to overthrow our council of zulkirs.

I make no accusation. I name no names. I merely observe that while I labor in Thaymount for the betterment and protection of our nation, someone spends a great deal of coin and whispers to convince Thay that its eldest servant is its enemy.

To the Red Wizards: These are treacherous days, and every apprentice must declare a loyalty. Declare it carefully. When order returns to Thay—and it will—those who kept faith will be remembered. So will the others.

To those few who conspire in cellars and back rooms, who imagine themselves unseen: Very little happens in Thay that does not, eventually, reach Thaymount. Consider this warning a courtesy. It will not be extended again.

And to all the rest who may be reading this, follow this thread to its end:

The truth, like the dead, rarely stays buried—and when you unearth it, you will find the grave you are standing in is full of those who did not bother to dig in the first place.
