Terror awaits you in the Mists of Ravenloft. But why wait? When you preorder Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft, you'll immediately unlock the Memento Mori digital dice set and six exclusive character sheet backdrops (shown below).
When Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft releases on May 18, you'll receive additional perks that take your character sheet into the Mists:
- 9 terrifying character sheet backdrops
- 6 sinister themes*
- 8 dread portrait frames
* An earlier version of this announcement incorrectly stated that eight themes would be included as a preorder perk.
(Click the images above for a closer look at the character sheet backdrops!)

Me to! Those dice are awesome!
The reborn one is making me simp. Help.
I'm pretty sure the one with the zombie is supposed to be one of the new linages (reborn).
Yes.
I think they are backrounds
What I really wish is WIzards would offer some type of incentive to get a Hardcover book AND the Digital D&DBeyond content - Like the Comic Book industry does with peel-off codes to get the digital edition - even if it was just a discount. I literally have bought ZERO D&DBeyond content because I can't justify buying twice, however, if there was an incentive system for those that have printed materials, I likely would have invested in the digital content
Nice! Love the extra goodies from preordering new books. Not to be that guy, though, but is there a chance you guys will revisit the background based on the original cover? The brushwork looks a little unpolished around the woman who was previously under Strahd's cloak.
I'm pretty sure they are going to be races, but they might be something new. Who knows.

EDIT: I'm not sure how this posted twice.
You mean this one vrgtr_backdrops_3_1920x1080_v2.jpg? Because I think that might be Viktra Mordenheim, or a flesh golem made by her.
Maybe. But the reborn one is also a possibility.
True.
Different companies. D&D beyond not owned by wizards if I read the article right.
Dndbeyond is not, as has already been posted, owned by Wizards. They have minimum input in costs or deals associated with the digital content beyond whatever minimums may have been set when the deal for dnd beyond to get access to the Wizard's content was worked out.
I 100% agree, a player who played In person table top 1st and have tons of books, moving to digital is a PIA, even more annoying there is no VTT that shares my DnDbeyond assets and ontop of that annoyance the don't even offer their own VTT option!!!
So basically it feels like I need to buy books in paper, a DnD Beyond bookset, and if I want to use a VTT then I have to buy them yet again!!!!
There should most definitely be a digital keycode, or significant discount code to incentivizes paperbook players to move to digital content or at the very least also have access to digital content!!
No there races
My dude, Search for beyond20 ;).
Is there only one dice set for this pre-order? Bit disappointing. Didn’t Frost Maiden get 2?
Where are the additional 9 backdrops? I only have the 6 from this article but it says there should be 9 more?
Same here, Can't find the extra 9 backdrops. Also can't find the 8 themes.
