Dwarf Slayer

Requirement: Dwarf Only

For one reason or another, you have lost your honor. You have done something that has brought great shame to yourself and your clan. There is only one option left for you, the Path of the Slayer. Your journeyed to a shrine of Clangeddin Silverbeard, Dwarven god of battle and honour in warfare. It is here that you dyed your hair, and beard if you have one, a fiery orange,parted with all of your worldly possessions and took the Slayer's Oath. There is only one way to regain your honor, death in glorious combat.

However, you cannot simply go into a battle that you know you will lose. You must fight to your full potential. It must be an honorable death that you seek, not mere suicide. Your glorious death cannot come at the expense of others. You must do all you can to insure the safety of those around you. You cannot simply ignore a threat just because it is not enough to give you the death you seek. If a caravan is being attacked by Goblins, you will do all you can to protect that caravan even if the Goblins pose no threat to you. This is your final chance to regain your honor, make your death a good one.

When you became a Slayer, you died. A funeral was held for you and your death was recorded as having happened before you lost your honor. To your clan and all who knew you before becoming a Slayer, you are dead.

Skill Proficiencies: Choose two from among History, Athletics, Religion, or Survival.

Languages: Choose one language (Abyssal, Deep Speech, Draconic, Giant, Goblin, Infernal, Orc, or Primordial). You learn the language of a great threat to your clan, so you may issue a challenge should you come across them.

Equipment:  A Book of Grudges, a set of common clothes, and one trinket of special significance (choose one or roll on the Gothic Trinkets table after this background).

Suggested Characteristics

Your shame is great and has caused your attitude to change into a grim and brooding one. You seek only your honorable death, often not caring for worldly possessions unless they can aid you in combat.
