Growing up by humble means, your clever mind has inspired you to create some very handy tools and contraptions. The success of your inventions have made you popular within your town and perhaps the next. However, your access to materials is limited by your income and your village. Making the best of wood, leathers, and other simple, inexpensive materials, you have managed minor wonders. These limitations do not stop you from inventing, but have inspired you to travel to seek new construction methods and materials.
- Skill Proficiencies: Investigation
- Tool Proficiencies: Two types of artisan’s tools
- Languages: None
- Equipment: Two sets of artisan’s tools with which you are proficient, a maker’s mark chisel used to mark your handiwork with the symbol you have taken as your own, a set of traveler’s clothes, and a pouch containing 15 gp
Feature: Craftsman's Advantage
A craftsman can recognize another craftsman. Be it by the calluses on your hands, the stains on your smock, or the look in your eye, fellow crafters, smiths, and professionals-alike are willing to extend to you a courtesy. Use of their facilities can be rented at half-cost. If they have a room to spare, they will be more willing to give you lodging within their forge or workshop's store rooms, so long as they believe they can trust you around their goods or resources. They will even protect you from harm, so long as doing so does not put them in danger.
Suggested Characteristics
Budding inventors are among the most peculiar people in the world. Fascinated by the workings of any contraption they come across, they are also absorbing what they see to inform or inspire the next innovation. Usually a strange mix of socially awkward and wholly inquisitive, budding inventors are as much a slave to their own minds as they are trapped within them.

Posted Sep 21, 2020This is done in the "Background" selector during character creation. You may have to enable a "homebrew" selector on the first page of the character's settings during creation to access this.
