Gardener Image

Like settled people throughout history, you spent a significant part of your early life growing plants in ground that you prepared. The garden could be a plot of slash and burn in a forest with wheat, maize or sorghum, or it could be the topiary and orchids of some noble's or wizard's formal lawns or hot houses. Perhaps, you are the one charged with keeping the taters and geraniums of some wealthy halflings' heir, which happen to grow under the open windows where important conversations happen.

You may be of very humble origin having raised hops or cotton in your fields, or you may rub shoulders with the highest in society. You could be from the royal family and have an extensive hobby of raising hybrid varieties of bonsai cedars. Work with your DM to determine details about which plants you have experience with, what your responsibilities were from labourer, to gardener, to designer of gardens, to estate manager.

Skill Proficiencies: Gardeners receive the nature skill and choose one skill from perception, athletics, medicine, survival or history.
Tool Proficiencies: Gardeners can choose a set of tools for proficiency between a Herbalism Kit or a set of Artisan's Tools from Brewer's Supplies, Cook's Utensils, Cartographer's Tools or Weaver's Tools.
Equipment: A set of tools for your chosen proficiency, a pouch of seeds from your garden, a set of common clothes, a pouch with 10 gp.

Feature: Natural Curiosity

A gardener's natural interest in the plant world gives them an advantage on perception rolls that have to do with plants around them. They just pay more attention unconsciously to the plants around them. They are also more likely to find information about plants during investigations or historical checks. They have advantage on those checks as well.
