Judicator Image

The dangers of the world are vast and unknown. So you decided to raise to the call to protect those you care about, and those who would never know what you've done. You joined The Judicators, an international defensive force dedicated to rooting out evil, corruption, and monsters. From the politically neutral territory granted them over 400 years ago, The Judicators stand watch from their fortress city of Fulcrum, and train those who flock to their ranks in the ways of primitive forensic investigation, survival, combat, and the restricted use of firearms. But The Judicators are not inflexible in the ways of the world, and a sizable number of their ranks feel they may serve better as Adventurers, either as part of a mobile party or alone, known as Freeblades. Your contacts and rank remain secure, but resources are limited as your freedom in the way you operate has grown.

When you choose this background, work with your DM to determine what kind of experiences you had during your Judicatorial career. Was it a standing army, a town guard, or a village militia. Did you root out any specific corruption, evil, or slay any notable monster? What caused you to take the life of a Freeblade Judicator?

You have contacts and training from your career as a Judicator. Judicators still recognize your authority and influence, and they defer to you if they are of a specialty not relevant to the situation. You can invoke your status to exert influence over other soldiers and requisition simple equipment or horses for temporary use. You can also usually gain access to friendly military encampments and fortresses where your Judicatorial status are recognized.
