From a young age, someone in your life has taken a great interest in making sure you were educated properly. For whatever reason, however, you had other plans and you've spent most of your youth variously coming up with clever ways to dodge your lessons and getting dragged back to finish them. You've gotten good at avoiding attention, talking your way out of trouble and roughing it while waiting for people to stop looking for you.
Work with your DM to determine. Who the people trying to educate you were. What they were trying to teach you? And why did you not want to learn from them? Did they eventually give up on teaching you, or are they still looking for you so they can finish your training?
- Skill Proficiencies: Choose two from: Deception, Persuasion, Stealth and Survival.
- Languages: Two languages of your choice.
- Equipment: A set of common clothes, a dagger, a dungeoneer's pack or explorer's pack and a pouch containing 10 GP.
Despite your best efforts, the attempt to teach you didn't fail completely. You wouldn't be able to recount anything, except perhaps the most basic knowledge, on demand, but when something triggers your memory, certain titbits and trivia will stand out in your recollection.
Whenever another member of the party passes a check to recall or discover information related to the subject of your education and shares it with the group, your DM may choose to give you additional information as the details come flooding back to you.
Suggested Characteristics
When you escaped your education, you might not have had a very good idea of who you were, but you had a damn good idea of who you didn't want to be.
