You were a slave to a powerful djinni noble. You may have been given to them in exchange for a wish, found on their doorstep, or taken from your home. You served as their entertainment, a trinket they acquired that they were unwilling to let go of. Perhaps they were a kind master, showering you with gifts and protecting you. Or perhaps they treated you as a pet, parading you around as a status symbol. Either way, you lived with them for many years and had gotten used to adapting to your master's wishes. You have since escaped, either by outwitting them, bargaining with them, or simply running. But your time as a djinn slave has shaped you into who you are today.
- Skill Proficiencies: Insight, and choose either Arcana, Deception, Performance, or Persuasion
- Tool Proficiencies: Choose any one tool proficiency
- Languages: Primordial
- Equipment: A set of common clothes, a costume, a pouch with 5gp, and a small but valuable gem, stolen from, or gifted to you by your former master, worth 50gp
Feature: People Pleaser
After years of pleasing your master, you now know how to glean an aristocrat's intentions and what to say to get what you want. You can gain a noble's trust, either to help them or take advantage of them. When in the presence of an unfamiliar noble, they won't see you as a threat and may spill a few secrets once they underestimate you.
Suggested Characteristics
Former djinn slaves may seem a bit peculiar to other people. Unlike regular slaves, they can be hard to spot as they're often curious and outgoing, traits they've likely picked up from their former master. As djinn are very attached to their possessions, former slaves are rare and often returned to their masters. Therefore, many are on the run, constantly looking over their shoulder, while others may even feel guilty for running away.
