In times of war convicted criminals sometimes have options beyond prison or the hangman's rope. You were given such an option, with military service being granted as payment for your crimes. A few years in the military gave you a few more skills, and showed you more of the world than you had seen before, though mostly the bad and the ugly. The good was reserved for other folks. Now that your service is over what comes next is up to you.
- Skill Proficiencies: Military service gives you proficiency in Athletics as a soldiers life is anything but easy. On top of that you have choice of two additional skill proficiency's to reflect the skills you picked up during your military career, or holdovers from the life that landed you there.
- Tool Proficiencies: Military life teaches everyone something: pick one tool proficiency to reflect your assigned profession during your stint of service.
- Languages: You only need to know one language to follow orders soldier!
You know the military life as only someone who has experienced it can. You are able to identify militaty companies by their emblems, and you know a little about any such company, including the names and reputations of its commanders and leaders, and where they have seen action. You can find the taverns and festive halls where soldiers and their retired brethren abide in any area, as long as you speak the language. You can find mercenary work between adventures sufficient to maintain a comfortable lifestyle, or perhaps even an odd job from an old military contact.
