This is the framework for background creation, based on our analysis of existing backgrounds. This background is not compatible with the d&d beyond character builder.
- Skill Proficiencies: You gain two skills of your choice.
- Tool Proficiencies: You gain two tools, two languages, or one of each
- Equipment: You gain a set of clothes appropriate to your background, a trinket, a set of tools or other somewhat useful item, such as a crowbar, pot, or shovel, and 5-20 gp, depending on the general wealth of those in your line of work.
Feature: Custom Feature
Work with your DM to create a feature that will give a small, mostly roleplay-based benefit, such as doing a minor task to sleep in inns for free or knowing where to get certain information, or just choose a background feature from an existing background that fits your character.
Suggested Characteristics
Create 2 personality traits, 1 ideal, 1 bond, and 1 flaw, or choose an existing background or two to pull these features from.
