Somehow you survived a seemingly fatal situation, whether by dumb luck, divine intervention, or sheer willpower. Either way, you were left for dead, by your compatriots or the people who wanted you dead, and that doesn't sit right. So you recovered, regained your strength, and set off to wreak vengeance on your almost-murderers.
