Dalish elves are a nomadic people, travelling all over the continent. With strong connections to family and clan, the Dalish have a rich culture that peaks through in most everything they do. From their religious practices to their hunting strategies, Dalish tradition goes back for hundreds of years.
Sadly, much of Dalish history is lost to time and destructive humans. A key ideal for the Dalish is to restore what has been lost and learn new things about their faith and traditions.

Being dalish, you have grown up with a general distrust and possible fear of humans. For this reason you are unlikely to be charmed by a human.
Any human who tries to charm you, has a disadvantage on their charisma check.

In Dalish clans, the First is the apprentice to the Keeper, the leader of the clan. The Keeper is a powerful mage who trains their First in magical and spiritual tradition.
It is a great honor to be chosen as First. Young mages train with the Keeper from their early teens, and often well into adulthood, learning ancient magic and secrets that will one day aid them in leading the clan.
This variant is exclusive to spell casters.
Take an extra proficiency in arcana. If you already have a proficiency, take expertise. You also get an extra language of your choice.
