As a young adult you found yourself caught in the horror of a battle that lasted months maybe even years. Be it due to location or magical means, godly intervention was suppressed and those of faith could not assume the function as magical healers. You may have been a soldier on one side or a neutral party or civilian. Your instinct to help those suffering and basic medicinal knowledge grew into a finely honed skill treating those wounded on the battlefield. Some of those you treated were suffering and beyond treatment and you learnt ways to ease and speed their passing by the means of potions and poisons.
