You may not know much, but you know the feeling of the crack of your knuckles when they impact an elven face; or the sound of a bone breaking when you twist it a touch too far. Combat is in your veins; and anywhere you go, you have a knack for finding someone of a similar mindset.
Despite your eagerness for a good brawl, you know where good company for someone like you gets work; construction, brewing, industrial work, and pretty much any other menial labour job that is dull enough or repetitive enough to ache for the iron taste of blood on your lip after a long day. You've picked up some skills in these jobs, maybe even specialize in one occupation or another, but your real pleasure is the fight, whenever and wherever you can get it.
- Skill Proficiencies: Athletics, Intimidation, Acrobatics, Sleight of Hand
- Equipment: A tool of your usual trade, a set of common clothes, a handkerchief with old bloodstains, a trinket you won in a fight that you are particularly proud of, and a pouch containing 10 gp
You are no gladiator; you like the invigorating impacts, you like giving more than you get, you crave the adrenaline rush, and you hate fakers. Most of all, you love the sound of cheers and knowing these people respect you, and that it's because there is no one quite as good at brawling as you.
With this feature, you can find people around any town or tavern that are keen to take you on for a round or two of fisticuffs. If you win, you win food, drink and rooms for the night for you and all your party members; lose and you may end up bloody in the gutter, but a good victor will still give you a free drink.
You can bet on these matches, but the amount is limited to DM discretion.
You and the DM can decide whether or not to roleplay each fight; if speed is preferred, roll 1d4 and call two of the numbers. If you get them right, you won the fight; if not, you lost.
Suggested Characteristics
You aren't pretty in your fights; you try to take the opponent down as quickly as possible to save as much energy as possible for any more rounds you might be challenged to. Most Fist Fighters are honorable in a fashion, with a respect for the fight and the opponents they face. Some preach grace in defeat and humility in success, while others don't handle failure so well and seek the downfall of their victorious opponents, one way or another. There are those unfortunate few that employ trickery and foul play to make sure they win, and are only stopped when caught.
Will you be an honest fighter, agreeing to a one-on-one match where the strongest fighter wins? Or will you scare the opponent into an early forfeit? Will you mickey their drinks before the match to make sure your win streak is unbroken? Maybe you will use your superior acrobatics to tire them out until you can exhange blows in whatever weakspots might present themselves?
Whichever is the case, you are sure to enjoy yourself; win, lose, or draw.
