Chosen Youth Image

You grew up a typical child in a typical family, perhaps a little lonely and uncertain of your place in the world.  In your childhood years, you were chosen and befriended by a creature from another plane of existence. They may be a minor deity, fey, celestial, or fiend, or another creature who saw something brilliant in you that they wished to nurture. You grew up supported by this figure, who may have imbued you with powers or merely acted as a friend and confidante. You may decide with your DM the level of which others in your life know about this figure- whether they function as an "imaginary friend" of sorts, or whether you are celebrated, revered, or possibly feared by your community for the potential this creature sees in you.

Skill Proficiencies: Arcana, Insight
Tool Proficiencies: One set of artisan's tools
Languages: A language associated with your companion (Celestial, Sylvan, or Abyssal)
Equipment: Any set of artisan's tools, a journal or diary with stories about your companion, a faded pink ribbon, a set of common clothing, and 10gp in an embroidered pouch.

Feature: Believe the Unbelievable

Your companion affects your abilities in a distinct way. Your spells or physical abilities are visually flavoured by your companion, perhaps taking on certain colours and effects to match their aesthetic. Because of this, you are able to demonstrate your connection to the fantastic in a way that is obvious and visual. Because your workings appear so distinct, other magi may have difficulty identifying what spell you have cast and what type of mage you are.
