Feature: Guardsmans Guild
You are an accredited member of the Guardsman Guild, with a certificated leather badge or metal medallion proving your membership. The guardsman guild functions across many nations, and works regularly with religious, aristocratic, government, and trade organizations. Your guild membership will allow you to trade, to some extent, on their reputation. Through the guild you can seek employment, seek representation in contract negotiation and disputes, requisition simple equipment for temporary use, and get a discount on both healing, and equipment maintenance and repair. In many cases the guild will also be able to provide free or discounted food and lodging.
Additionally, the guild keeps track of reliability of various employers, and the political and other risks in different routes and locations.
Suggested Characteristics
The Guardsmans Guild is large and tries to be non-political. As they wish to be reliable, they lean slightly towards a lawful alignment, but are very broad in terms of membership. Humans, Dwarves, Elves and Half-Elves make up a majority of the membership, but -- at least in theory -- there are no restrictions on membership except for one's record of work and (successfully) keeping contracts. Likewise, while the vast majority of members are physical combatants of one sort or another, the guild does maintain a strong contingent of spell-users as well, as ignoring the presence and capabilities of magic would (and in some cases, has) caused great holes in their ability to meet and honor contracts.

Ideal |
1
Guild. My guild is all that really matters. (Any)
2
Order. Society functions only if people do their duty and respect the chain of command. (Lawful)

Protection. I am the shield that stands between the innocent and the greedy, the lazy, and the criminal. (Good)

Convenience. I get paid to travel and see the world, and most of the time all I have to do is stand there and look threatening. It's not a bad way to make a living. (Neutral)
5
Power. People suck. The best way to keep what you have, and the only way to get more, is to be the biggest, baddest, strongest one around. (Evil)

6
Chance. Hey, I don't force anyone to attack. If they leave us alone, I leave them alone; but, if they start something, I finish it. (Chaotic)
