For whatever reason, this dragon decided to keep you and raise you as one of their own children. This could have been either a chromatic or metallic dragon, either way they taught you their ways and ideals.
But of course, as most adventurers do, you encountered a terrible tragedy. Your dragon parent was killed by a band of adventurers seeking to loot their cave. You took what little you had on you and ran, swearing revenge on the adventurers that killed your parent.
