Whether by your own volition, compromising circumstance or as an unwilling thrall, you once served a infamous tyrant. You may have reluctantly participated in horrible acts at the behest of your master, or reveled in the perceived freedom that was granted you under horrendous conditions- whatever your role, the tyrant made you either perform terrible things or witness them. Fear, isolation, violence and death were integral parts of your life up until recently, when the tyrant fell and their armies were scattered. No longer do you toil in the graveyards, looking for prime potential undead soldiers; no longer do you break down the doors of families who owe too much gold; and no longer do you hear that terrible voice in your head commanding you to cause pain. You are free to live as you see fit now, do you forge a new path or do you slip into that which you've always known: subjugation and cruelty?

You were not the only one who served the fallen tyrant, even though it might have felt like it at the time. You are recognized by other former servants, and given the benefit of the doubt when interacting with them.
Suggested Characteristics
You were until recently believed to be a vile villain working for an even viler villain, that suggests you were able to back up that perception in some way, either through force, spell or your poisoned tongue. Few saw your other qualities, most didn't care to, and you were more than likely too fearful to let that fearsome demeanor slip. Perhaps you struggle with how you present yourself and your feelings now, or you might finally feel like you are able to express yourself as you want.
