You were once a great and terrible monster, laying waste to anything that opposed you. Your might was challenged only by the occasional foolish adventurer, who would stand no match to you and your followers. However, as defeat became increasingly less likely, your enemies turned to new, more creative ways to end your tyranny. They have cursed you, taking from you your monstrous form and powers, leaving you as weak and pathetic as any other worthless humanoid filth. Now, without your hordes, treasure, or physical might, you must venture on a new path to take revenge, remove this curse, or find a new life among those you once terrorized.
- Skill Proficiencies: Your former terror has not completely left you, nor has the knowledge of you life before your curse. You gain proficiency in Intimidation and Survival.
- Tool Proficiencies: Lordship over lesser creatures doesn't get handed to just any beast. You have skills that have helped you rule your armies, or torture your enemies. You gain proficiency in smith's tools, alchemist supplies, or navigator's tools.
- Languages: You retain whatever language you spoke in your past life. You gain one language of your choice.
- Equipment: You retain an item from your time as a monstrous tyrant, such as a jewel from your old hoard, an old trophy, or a component from the spell that cursed you. You also have a dungeoneer's pack, traveler's clothes, and a pouch containing 5 gold.
Feature: Oppressive Presence
Despite your new form, many can still recognize you as threatening. Creatures and people that are easily frightened feel uneasy around you, and will try to appease your simple requests if it means you will leave them alone. In addition, you are familiar with knowledge regarding the species of monster you were prior to your transformation.
Suggested Characteristics
Monster personalities are as varied as their shapes and sizes. Their personalities are based on their experiences as beasts, those that they've interacted with, and their reaction to being cursed.
