You were once a slave (whether sold into slavery or born into it) who has escaped. The exact manor of the escape depends on the type of person you are. Maybe you killed your old master. Maybe an abolitionist helped you escape. Maybe you just ran for it and didn't look back. Whatever type of escape you had, your old master(s) and slavers want you back, or killed.
