Far from the bustle of cities and towns, past the hedges that shelter the most distant farms from the terrors of the wild, amid the dense-packed trees of trackless forests and across wide and empty plains, rangers keep their unending watch.
Found as a young child, or newborn, you were taken in by one such Ranger. Growing up on the land you learned all the skill required of a Ranger, but not much else. This life is all you know, wandering the land and fending for yourself, using the teachings of your master. Maybe this solitary lifestyle suits you and you only reluctantly join up with others to tackle more challenging foes, or perhaps you have grown tired of being alone and seek out new traveling companions and adventure, learning more about the world you have spent your life protecting.

You have an excellent memory for maps and geography, and you can always recall the general layout of terrain, settlements, and other features around you. You can only become lost by magical means and can easily guide others across terrain types you are familiar with. As a result, you are occasionally hired to be a guide and mapmaker. In addition, you can easily find food and fresh water for yourself and up to five other people each day, provided that the land offers berries, small game, water, and so forth and are able to remain alert even while doing so.
Suggested Characteristics
Rangers are hardy folk who toughen up quickly. They are alone out on the fields defending civilization from dangerous creatures or criminals threatening the people. These experiences, especially from such a young age, have played a major part in shaping a Ranger Orphan.
