When you attempt to learn or recall a piece of knowledge, if you do not know that information, you often know where and from whom you can obtain it. Usually, this information comes from a library, scriptorium, university, or a sage or other learned person or creature. Your DM might rule that the knowledge you seek is secreted away in an almost inaccessible place, or that it simply cannot be found. Unearthing the deepest secrets of the multiverse can require an adventure or even a whole campaign.
Alternatively if you are trying to create spell scrolls (of one chosen school), ritual/incantation instructions, or write down knowlege you have already discovered you can do so in two thirds of the required time. If the topic is part of your Archivist's field of research, you can do so in one third of the time. Finally, if you are trying to use your field of research to create or deduce a directly inverse topic to your life's studies, you can do this in half the time necessary.
Suggested Characteristics
