The world has always felt like it wasn't yours to walk. Perhaps you had the best parents in the world, but you still didn't feel at home. Or maybe you had a hard time fitting in society. It was impossible for you to relate to anything or anyone. One day you've had enough and decided to run away from home to find a greater purpose.
Work with your DM on what reason you had to run away. Figure out when you decided to leave and what made you feel like this was the right time. Who did you have to leave behind and how did that make you feel? What greater purpose are you looking for?
- Skill Proficiencies: Animal Handling or Survival, Stealth or Perception
- Tool Proficiencies: Disguise Kit, Thieves' Tools
- Languages: You've lived a normal life in the past. You speak Common and one additional language of choice depending on who raised you. In any other situation, choose any 1 non-exotic language.
- Equipment: A set of travelers clothes, tools related to the proficiency you chose, one keepsake from the family you left, and a belt pouch containing 15 gp.
No one ever knew how or what you felt, unless you told them. Choose one animal or object that you shared your deepest secrets and earnest emotions with.

No one knows about your past life. You are living a life with no risk as you have nothing to lose. Didn't you already?
Many people interpret the sorrow in your eyes as their own and share their darkest secrets with you looking for acknowledgement of their feelings.
Any NPC may or may not (to the DM's discretion) open up to you at random events in time. Listening to their secrets comes with a cost. Any NPC that finds out their secret has become public property may become violent towards you. You have been warned!
Suggested Characteristics
Runaways are shaped by living in contradiction. They tend to be both driven by a love or hatred towards the people with whom they shared their past, and by their determination to succeed in finding a new goal in life.
