Whether by resurrection, reincarnation, or another powerful craft, you have returned to the realm of the living. You're not to be confused with the undead Revenant. In your old body, or new, you should discuss with your DM the specifics of your miraculous return and of your previous life. It should only be fitting that some aspects of your old life were brought back with you. These could be languages, skills, a proficiency with an instrument or tool set. A new lease on life is ahead of you but, you know, deep down, there was a reason why you were brought back.
- Skill Proficiencies: Insight, Religion or Arcana or Nature depending on which was used to bring you back.
- Tool Proficiencies: Choose one from the table on PHB 154: one type of artisan's tools, one type of musical instrument, a gaming set of your choice, one type of kit of your choice, one type of non-artisan's tools or one vehicle proficiency.
- Languages: The language of your old race and one exotic language (Abyssal, Celestial, Deep Speech, Draconic, Infernal, Primordial, Sylvan or Undercommon)
- Equipment: A set of tools (one of your choice, consult PHB 154), a memento left from the ritual, a set of traveler’s clothes, and a pouch containing 10 gp
One who has been brought back for a reason could know right from the beginning why or they could have only been given pieces to put together or it could be something that has been hidden, which will only be revealed through trials and experience.

From your past life, you retain memories pertinent to your past profession and connections. You can call upon these memories when looking for items or information. Consult with your DM if your past life's memories would hold anything that could help during your quests.
Suggested Characteristics
Those who are brought back to life can range from soft-spoken and contemplative to boisterous and out-going. The event of coming back from the dead is different for many, so it would only be logical that their characteristics can differ as well.
