You have no memory of your past life. You do not know who you are or where you came from. Whatever you were before is now gone and done with, as you do not know where it ever was. You may have woken up in the middle of a forest, the gutter of a populated city, deep in a dark tomb, or in a lavish inn room paid for by a stranger.
Work with your DM and talk with them of what you may have been before you gained amnesia. You the player will know of your past, but you will make sure that the character will have no idea. Alternatively, ask your DM if they would make a backstory for you.

- Languages: Two of your choice
- Equipment: A trinket from your past life, a book in a strange language, 5 candles, a dagger, a set of common clothes, and a pouch containing 15 gp.
Each time you go somewhere new or meet a new NPC, you can choose to have a flashback of a similar event. Ask your Dungeon Master for a flashback of a person, place or thing and roll a history check at disadvantage with a DC of 15. If you successfully roll, the DM will give you details on a similar event. The event may have nothing to do with your current situation, or have everything to do with it. Recalling due to an person in a red cloak you just met may give a glimpse to a man you spoke to in a past life with a red cloak. Recalling off a sword you found in a dungeon may bring up you training with a similar sword when you were a child. Recalling a place based off the tavern you entered may bring back the time you burned a tavern to the ground in the past life.
The DM can also ask you to roll for history at other times at their discretion, and if there is no event to recall they may deny that any flashback happens.
Suggested Characteristics
You may not remember anything that happened in your past life, but you have a new life ahead of you. This life can lead to whole new choices nothing like what went on in the past. You have a new path ahead of you and no sign of what you should do next, but people are made by the choices they make and forged by the fires they endure.
