You've spent much time as a village, town, or travelling healer, using common remedies, setting broken limbs, and perhaps even dealing with plague. You've learned both the art of medicine and the art of reading people who may not have been so forthcoming with information regarding their ailments.
- Skill Proficiencies: You are proficient in Medicine and either Nature or Insight, depending on your medical background.
- Tool Proficiencies: You have proficiency with Herbalism Kits.
- Languages: You are proficient in one extra language of your choice.
- Equipment: You will begin the game with a healer's kit, and herbalism kit, traveler's clothes, a bag of 10gp, a good luck charm or holy symbol, and either a note from a village leader thanking you for your help, or trophy given to you as payment.
You are practiced in a particular medical background, whether it be working in the bush, or as a physician in a large city. This will affect the people with which you have already built up a medical rapport, at your DM's discretion.
| d6 | Medical Background |
|---|---|
| 1 | A backwoods healer specializing in bush medicine. |
| 2 | A healer for a small hamlet/village, mostly dealing with work injuries and minor illness and helping out common folk more than anyone else. |
| 3 | One of a couple healers for a decent-sized town, dealing with all manner of injuries as well as diseases and communicable illnesses. |
| 4 | A healer in a significant town or city, dealing with every ailment under the sun. |
| 5 | A physician for the wealthy, getting paid more money for richer clients. |
| 6 | The personal surgeon for the family of either nobles or true royalty. Your training is upper-class, and you almost certainly attended a prestigious medical school. |
Your prowess as a healer carries with it some reputation. Some people, however, are still weary of healers. You have a 50% chance upon entry to a town to be able to find someone to give you temporary quarter as a healer. This may bring in some income, enough as to fulfill the requirements for the "Practicing a Profession" downtime activity. This may also, however, lead to a lineup out your door of potential patients, depending on the amount of healers in town.
You need not find someone to provide you temporary quarter in order to fulfill the "Practicing a Profession" requirements.
