Prophet (Cultist) Image

You have spent your life in the service of a temple to a specific god or pantheon of gods. You act as an intermediary between the realm of the holy and the mortal world, performing sacred rites and offering sacrifices in order to conduct worshipers into the presence of the divine. Performing sacred rites is not the same thing as channeling the specific divine power you weild. You're believed to have a direct connection with your deities so, you're worshipped amongst your followers as a beam of celestial power. Your connection with your deity can lead to odd worshippers and setbacks to your morality. Your view of non-celestials is warped and derived from actuality. The feeling of worship fuels your everyday, and you learned how to achieve this in a multitude of ways. Your godless visions leave you with a sense of protection and superiority over others, like knowing that your god(s) will protect you.

Choose a god, a pantheon of gods, or some other quasi-divine being, and work with your DM to detail the nature of your religious service. Were you a lesser functionary in a temple, raised from childhood to assist the priests in the sacred rites, rising to glory with this knowledge? A simple man blessed by the powers of your god(s) to instruct others, found connected to otherworldly connections? Were you a high priest who suddenly experienced a call to serve your god in a different way? Perhaps you were the leader of a small cult outside of any established temple structure or even an occult group that served a deceptionally, benevolent master that you have overthrown.

Skill Proficiencies: [Persuasion]: Your connection with the Gods has made you very inept of how people tick and how to get love from them. The otherworldly connection adds some charm too. [Religion]: You're directly connected to a deity or multiple, which whom you can communicate to, at certain religious rituals. You have visions of them, with ways of copying old scriptures perfectly in your mind.
Tool Proficiencies: Calligrapher's Supplies: Your visions sometimes pop up at random times, requiring you to need to write. If you're the next coming of God, you need to be able to have your devotees be able to read your true intentions. Forgery Kit: In order to get your point across, sometimes you have to fake it til you make it.
Languages: Two of your choice
Equipment: A holy symbol, (a gift to you when you entered the priesthood), a prayer book or prayer wheel, 5 sticks of incense, a sacrificial dagger, a set of common clothes, and a pouch containing 20 gp.

The Death of God

"Don't you want devoted followers? Who leave their families for you? Give their money to you? Give their bodies to you? Give up their lives for you? Consider you God and will kill for you? Don't you want to become a cult leader? Since the death of God there has been a vacancy open! You can fill that void, here is how..."

These words haunt your psyche, ever since you had that one experience. Everything makes sense now, all of your life leads up to this moment. You have been chosen for a very special mission, that is only proven to be done by you. The hands of the God have blessed you before the last moments, giving you visions of what is to come. You can prove these visions and build a society, to survive this godless world. Your devotees are protected by you, you are their protector. All your intentions are true, even if the lengths you go just seem outlandish or "cruel and inhumane." The promise of power is something you will see the end of. If you're the next coming of God, you'll take that opportunity with open arms

d1 The Death of God
1 Saint

Feature: Shelter of the Faithful

As a prophet, you command the respect of those who share your faith, and you can perform the religious ceremonies of your deity. You and your adventuring companions can expect to receive free healing and care at a temple, shrine, or other established presence of your faith, though you must provide any material components needed for spells. Those who share your religion will support you (and only you) at a modest lifestyle. The shelter gives you intel, resources

You might also have ties to a specific temple dedicated to your chosen deity or pantheon, and you have a ruling there. This could be the temple where you used to serve, where you created the shelter through ur teachings or a temple where you have found a new home. While near your temple, you can call upon the priests for assistance, provided the assistance you ask for is not hazardous and you remain in good standing with your temple.

Prophets are shaped by their experience in temples or other religious communities. Their study of the history and tenets of their faith and their relationships to temples, shrines, or hierarchies affect their mannerisms and ideals.
