The heart of a mighty hero beats within your chest, or at least it would if you could finally learn to fly on your own. Maybe you relish the pillow to fall back on when things go wrong, or maybe you find the ever present shadow at your back to be a stifling affair; regardless, your family plays a prominent role in your life, whether you’d like them to or not.
- Skill Proficiencies: Being the apple of your family’s eye means that over the years you’ve become highly proficient at getting your own way. You are proficient in the Persuasion and Deception skills.
- Tool Proficiencies: You’ve been pushed towards extra-curricular achievement (whether you wanted it or not) your whole life. You are proficient with one musical instrument.
- Languages: Nothing says “my child is a success” quite like a second language! You may choose one language proficiency.
- Equipment: A set of warm clothes (including colourful scarf, woollen bobble hat, mittens and slightly oversized coat), a set of cooking utensils (that you never learnt to use), an encouraging note or letter from your parents or guardians (quite an embarrassing one) and a pouch containing 30 gold coins.
You can always stay at your family home and find yourself well fed and looked after. Your family may not be as accommodating of your friends and companions and may blame them for putting their child in danger and for being a bad influence.
You may also ask or write to your parents for emergency funds or other material assistance. You may do this at any point and you will be asked to make a persuasion check to determine your success. Your chances of success will depend on how often you keep in contact with them and how long it has been since your previous request for help. The longer you go without writing or visiting will increase your chances of failure, as will asking for help too often. The amount of help you can receive upon succeeding in your request depends mostly on how wealthy your family is.

The heart of a mighty hero beats within your chest, or at least it would if you could finally learn to fly on your own. The overwhelming presence of your family has pushed you to rebel and partake in self destructive behaviour in search of the independence you crave. You probably think you can handle yourself in all situations, and this has lead you to making some less than advised decisions.
Alcohol, drugs and tattoos were only things that you were ever denied by your folks, so naturally you went looking for them yourself.
You know a less then reputable individual who can usually get you whatever it is your family said no to. They’re dirty, smelly, shifty, paranoid and you’re positive beyond all doubt that they have your best interests at heart. All they ask of you is that you occasionally do something for them. After all, they have other clients who want things, and who better to retrieve hard to obtain things than an adventurer like you!
