The Devil's Monster Image

Ever since I was young i could see a being from the past or maybe it was the future, perhaps hell has sent a demon to keep me company in my lonely time. Hiding from them was quickly known to be impossible, as was burying them and running from them. On my 11th anniversary of my birth I had gotten the courage to attack it and did so with my foster father's greatsword. It passed through harmlessly and the being looked as if it found it amusing. Though the people that adopted me found it significantly more terrifying and sent me away. On the 16th year of my birth I had secretly been practicing magic strong enough that might finally rid me of the longest of my companions. I sat and waited in the room this family allows my to use. I lost all track of time, it could have been days or mere minutes. I called the biggest fireball I could and threw it at the being with full force, it laughed. But the wall behind it showed that the fireball worked because the whole room erupted in flames. I picked up my already packed up items and left before they got back, it was going to happen one way or another today. I decided against going back to the orphanage, they caused me enough pain for 3 lifetimes. Over the next few years, I became much angrier and so I became a sword for hire. As my anger grew so did my skill. Few attempted to cross me willingly. Tales of what I have done spread like a plague, most where lies or exaggeration but my name was feared so people did what I wanted and stayed far away.

Harrowing Event

After enough pain I had decided to give up. The being never attempted to do me harm and no one else could see it. I ran from town to town selling my sword. A scorned wife here and a pickpocketing theif there. Though after each town was helped I left, they only asked for my help because I was a worse monster than what they wanted killed. After countless towns and countless deaths I finally found someone who I didn't want dead. I was wandering through the marketplace looking for some bread or a job, whichever one happened first was fine. I heard this way to sweet voice as about me and my companion and turned around. I'd she looked like an angel but it wouldn't be true. She had long flowing dark hair, dark green eyes, and a smile that was all to fake. I asked her if she wanted someone dead, as that was what every one wanted when the spoke to me. She seemed taken back by the question and says why would I want someone dead? I say in an irratated voice then why are we talking if not to buy my sword? I was wondering about your deathwalker? I looked puzzled, what in the hell is a deathwalker? She points to the shadow that has plagued my life. Well great we know why your talking to me but we don't know what a deathwalker is. She explains that a deathwalker is your future self that returns to a younger version of yourself to tell you something important. Fast forward 12 years and we are now married with a 9 year old little girl and a 5 year old little boy. I still am a sell sword but I no longer leave a town when I kill someone, I also no longer kill everyone. I get a job to clean out a cultist camp. I kissed the kids and wife saying see you when I get back. As I walked up to the camp I could tell something was off, I snuck around the area and it was empty. After a few hours I went back, as I walked back up the road to my house I made a note that there are a lot of footprints on this road. As I my house came into view I noticed the door was off it's hinges. I readied my sword and walked in slowly. My son was the first I found, his sword in hand. My daughter was in her room, her bow was near and arrows where in the walls and floor. The arrows on the floor had blood on them. My lovely wife was in our room, her sword and sheild lay near. I wanted to weap but first would find out what happened here. I went into to for the first time. The town was still shaken from a recent attack. I found someone and asked what happened here. Theives and murders, they ran through and killed and stole whatever they could get their hands on. I looked at her handed who all did they. She looked up in horror remembering what transpired. She looked at me with honest eyes I'm sorry, my young friend. Your family was the only ones attacked. So now I look for who ever the killers are because they are in the sights of a monster.
