You've been traveling for as long as you can remember. Your only possessions are those that you can be easily stowed and carried at a moment's notice. You take odd jobs whenever possible and use the meager earnings to sustain yourself to the next destination. You've slept in trees, ditches, and alleyways while exposed to the elements and have taken risks that you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy just for the sake of survival.
You have enough money to last for a couple weeks. Where are you headed next and why? Are you searching for something, perhaps someone or are you just looking for answers to a lingering question?
- Skill Proficiencies: Two of your choice
- Tool Proficiencies: Two of your choice
- Equipment: A crowbar, a dagger, one trinket of special significance, 3 pieces of chalk, 6 days of rations, a gray cloak, a set of common clothes, and a belt pouch containing 5 gp
As a vagabond, you recognize symbols and markings left by other travelers and are able to glean basic information about a location at the discretion of your Dungeon Master. You may be able to determine whether it is safe or not, where to find work or information or even places to hide, rest and recuperate. Fellow vagabonds and travelers will extend you every courtesy and do their utmost to help you unless you have shown yourself to be a danger to them.
Suggested Characteristics
Vagabonds are shaped by a life of impermanence. Constantly traveling, wandering between locations and trying to fit in whenever possible. They might be looking for something or someone. It might just be that they're searching for answers. Whatever the reason, vagabonds share the same underlying goal; survival. While often mistrusted and considered a nuisance, it's quite rare to find someone more welcoming or understanding than them.
