You have been in the service of some more powerful being for most of your life. This may be something like a wizard, dragon, or chieftan. Whether or not you are still in service to this particular master, you learned how to survive the rigors of serving a superior being.

Tool Proficiencies: One type of artisan's tools.
Languages: One language of your choice.
Equipment: A set of artisan's tools. Commoners clothes. A ring or other token to prove your representation of the master.

Feature: Grovel

When a more powerful creature would exact some negative consequence from you for some failure on your part, you may grovel before the creature to lessen your penalty, though the creature will treat you with less respect in the future.

Variant Monster Background - Overlord/Dungeon Minion: Abandoned the Dungeon

You were born as the creature of a Dungeon's birth. As such you and all the creatures of the dungeon were magically tied together and to the core. When you left the dungeon (or were taken from it) that connection was severed. While this cut you off from your dungeon of birth you now have the ability to connect while within other dungeons.

 
Variant Feature: Dungeon's Magic Connection

You've been magically connected to dungeons your a part of. Because of this your are very skilled at navigating in dungeons and understanding their layouts. While in a dungeon you gain advantage on skill checks for Survival and Investigation.
