Untrained Apprentice Image

There was a great and legendary hero whose feats are to numerous to list and almost to fantastic to believe, A slayer of dragons, a living saint, or an unbeaten warlord. This famous figure has a name that is known by many but a face that has been seen by few, which is fortunate for you because shortly after being taken on as an apprentice to this hero they died and you have been forced to pose as them since. You really on the great name of your deceased benefactor to find work and succour while hoping nobody realises you're far more experienced with carrying bags than with hero work.

Choose a heroic predecessor, and work with your DM to detail the nature of their impressive heroics, rolling a level 20 character can provide a starting point for this hero. Were they a paladin, raised from childhood to scour the land of demons? Or were they a barbarian who united a hundred tribes? Perhaps they were a witch hunter  outside of any structure, or even the earthly hand of a divine being.

Skill Proficiencies: Animal Handling, Deception
Tool Proficiencies: One type of gaming set

As a great and renowned hero your former mentor could expect good will and respect anyplace that the people had heard of their exploits. Free food, free drinks and free accommodation are things your mentor would receive without ever needing to ask for, and as long as you go by their name its something you can expect as well.
