Resources are scarce aboard a generational starship, with everything being on board for a reason, making replacement components hard to come by. Once per long rest, a Void Born can attempt to repair one piece of equipment (with their proficiency bonus) without the use of artisan's tools by simply finding random things in their vicinity that they use to cobble a solution together. The item they fix must be simple or technical in nature. This feature does not work on anything magical.
Suggested Characteristics
While they are technically explorers, Void Born spend their lives among a small number of people and in a very confined space. They tend to be naïve and easily start struck.
d10 | Personality Trait |
---|---|
1 | I'm so bored with the everyday that I constantly come up with tall tales to tell others |
2 | I haven't experienced enough of the world outside this tin can and as such, have difficulty understanding that someone could lie to me. |
3 | Staring into the void for so long, I've become depressed and full of ennui. Nothing can lift my spirits. |
4 | I've eaten nothing but reclaimed protein and starch paste for most of my life. Whenever confronted with non-paste food, I can't stop myself from gorging. |
5 | Everybody talks. Aboard a starship, rumors travel at the speed of light, so I keep my thoughts and feelings to myself, lest they be used against me. |
6 | Life aboard a starship can be boring and depressing, so I've taken it upon myself to make sure that everyone around me is in high spirits and entertained. |
7 | Life in space is all about survival. One must be prepared for the next hardship, the next hurdle, the next disaster. Survival requires preparation. |
8 | All that matters is the mission. Find the task and focus to get it done. Play can come after that, so long as another mission doesn't come up. |
9 | Authority will guide us to prosperity. Strict adherence to the chain of command is how we will survive as a crew. |
10 | I never gave consent for the authorities to tell me what to do and they seem to not know what they're doing. Rabble-rousing isn't a past time, it's a way of survival for me. |
