Land Pirate Image

You spent your youth under the sway of a dread pirate, a ruthless cutthroat who taught you how to survive in a world of sharks and savages.  Now, you've become a feared pirate in your own right.  You have indulged in larceny on land and sent more than one deserving soul to a briny grave.  Bloodshed and the pursuit of treasure are no strangers to you, and you've garnered a somewhat unsavory reputation in many a town.

Skill Proficiencies: Perception, Intimidation

Languages: Two of your choice
Equipment: A pirate weapon such as a belaying pin [club], boarding axe [hand axe], or rapier, 50 feet of silk rope, a broken compass that always points in a seemingly random direction, a set of common clothes, and a belt pouch containing 10 gp.

Feature: Bad Reputation

No matter where you go, people are afraid of you due to your reputation. When you are in a civilized settlement, you can get away with minor criminal offenses, such as refusing to pay for food at a tavern or breaking down doors at a local shop, since most people will not report your activity to the authorities.  However, your infamy can also attract unwanted attention sometimes, especially from authorities who might want to see you pay for your past misdeeds.

Suggested Characteristics

Most pirates are unsavory figures of questionable moral character, although many pirates have a moral code of their own, even though it may be different from the one the average member of polite society adheres to.  Flaws may be overconfidence or a nagging, guilty conscience over your bad deeds.
