You found yourself working for several years among what is more than a single camp of bandits in the wilderness, but a coordinated network of raiders, hired mercenaries, and ruthless negotiators. In that time, you helped establish connections and fear in many in the name of your confederation. You have been instilled with more tact than to simply indiscriminately harm others, but your name carries weight, and from the virtues of your network, it travels far.

Discuss the nature of the bandit confederation you worked for with your DM. Did they specialize in contracts to protect merchant caravans, or clandestine raids against military personnel. How widespread is it? How infamous? Is it still in operation, or have external forces broken it's connections and scattered it to the wilds?

What was your place in the confederation- hired protection, negotiator, scout, or something else? Who was your home regions' Overboss, and their lieutenant? Did you leave on good terms, or were you expelled for a violation of the code?

Your work has made you a member of distinction in your confederation, and your name brings fear as far as the network stretches and beyond. While formally recognized as a criminal of note, most citizens and even authorities will look the other way for minor criminal offenses, and tend to be more susceptible to bribery.

Suggested Characteristics

Bandits tend to be perceived as greed-stricken robbers and highwaymen, and many are simply in it for the money. However, behind this image lies a cultivated network of outcasts, tribesmen, and vagabonds that wish only to live freely and answer to each other as equals, and not to some higher authority. Bandits come of all sorts, but unite under their rejection of the rule of crowned men.
