You have spent years learning to design and fabricate tools, weapons and armor, however you chose to specialize in the creation, improvement and repair of armor. You find comfort around a forge and quickly slip into a zen like rhythm when working one.

Despite your love of the forge and your craft, you have discovered a reason to leave your forge and begin a life of adventuring. Perhaps you had one of your pieces stolen and have vowed to track down the thief and ensure they face justice, or maybe you have decided to adventure so you may find new examples of armor to better improve your knowledge and skills.

Skill Proficiencies: Years of working in a forge have made you proficient in Athletics and your experience repairing armor has made you proficient in Investigation.
Tool Proficiencies: Your training as a blacksmith has given you proficiency with Smith's tools and years of creating armor have made you proficient with Leatherworker's tools.

Specialty

Choose a specialty. As an armor smith, did you mostly make light, medium or heavy armor, or shields? You can roll on the following table to determine your specialty or choose one that best fits your character.

d4 Specialty
1 Light Armor
2 Medium Armor
3 Heavy Armor
4 Shields

Feature: Knowledge of the Trade

You can light and maintain roaring fires with ease, arranging materials to concentrate the heat as if it were a forge. You may spend an hour to create a makeshift forge while only using twice the materials needed to fuel a regular campfire.

You can also assess the quality and value of non-magical armor and know how to care for and maintain it (protecting it from corrosion and breakage, repairing damage, etc).

Suggested Characteristics

Life in a forge leaves marks, changes a person just as they change the metal they work. An armor smith’s study of the materials and techniques used in their craft affect their mannerisms and ideals. Their flaws might be some hidden arrogance or outlandish idea, or an ideal or bond taken to an extreme.
